Never too early for predictions:
Nats win the NL East
Cards win the NL Central
Dodgers win the NL West
Wild Cards are the Giants and Pirates
I am not sure how it shakes out from there but somehow I see the Giants in the World Series again. ^&grin
And there is no way I am going near any predictions in the AL!
Here's a prediction for you; July 4th is next weekend, then I've got a big wargaming show after that, then when I return, NFL camps open up...............Sorry fellas, I'm done with baseball til next Spring, the Red Sox lost two of three to the go go O's, Pedrioa is out, Ramirez is out, they're fielding a team with a bunch of AAA kids out there.
What a disaster; last place three of the last four years....................baseball for me is over and it's not even July 4th yet.
Adios.
George:
Hopefully you will pop in from time to time.
This thread wouldn't be the same without you.

Scherzer at Phillie tonight went 5.1 perfect innings before giving up a double. He had run his consecutive hitless innings streak to 17.1 over 3 games. Got out of the 6th with the shutout intact, running the Nats starting staff streak to 47.1 consecutive scoreless innings. Nats have a 5-0 lead after 6. -- AlOn the heels of the Pirate sweep, the Nats just swept the Braves out of town, outscoring them 12-2 over the 3 games. Nat's starting pitching still on a role as in these 6 straight wins, the pitchers have combined for 43.1 innings and have allowed just 1 earned run. Today, Doug Fister joined the line as he went 7 shutout innings in a 7-0 win. Nat's starters now also have a 41.1 inning scoreless streak in progress. Scherzer back up tomorrow in Philly. -- Al
I jinxed Scherzer. Phillies scored in the 7th and have ended the Nats scoreless streak at 48 innings. Scherzer got the win, going 8 and allowing 2 runs in the 5-2 victory. Nats starters have now allowed 3 runs in the last 62 innings over 7 games. -- AlScherzer at Phillie tonight went 5.1 perfect innings before giving up a double. The Nats streak of 8 straight wins and excellent starts by the pitchers ended in the 2nd game of the doubleheader in Philly today but it was a great streak while it lasted. The Nats outscored the opposition 39-9 in the 8 games, with the starters only giving up 5 runs over 58.1 innings (the 62 innings in the above post was erroneous as I had miscounted:redface2. They also gave up only 33 hits and 6 walks over that stretch while fanning 54. Best of all, Strasburg won his 2nd straight game coming off the DL and looked really good. His fastball hit 99 at one point and was at 97 quite a bit, which hadn't happened prior to his going on the DL as he had been pitching hurt since spring training. He appears to have found his groove and along with Fister coming off the DL, the Nats have had their 5 man rotation in place for the first time this season over these last 8 games. Could be the start of something good. :wink2: -- AlI jinxed Scherzer. Phillies scored in the 7th and have ended the Nats scoreless streak at 48 innings. O's leading the Indians (soon to be the more PC Cleveland Native Americans) 4-0 in the 4th. After winning the 1st game of today's doubleheader by the same 4-0 score, a victory in the nightcap will put the O's in a virtual tie for 1st place in the AL East! Go O's! ^&grin -- Al

Brad, I've said it before, but the Mets have a great rotation, and a young one at that. They will be a fun bunch to watch but like you say, the Mets have to find some offense to support them. -- AlAnother wunderkind joined the rotation today, Steven Matz, a local kid and he was everything as advertised, plus he drove in 4 runs.
With Harvey, deGrom, Syndergard and now Matz, they have an awesome rotation, not to mention Wheeler who will be back next year.
Now, if they could only hit....
Tillman looked good but continues to be up or down. He has raised his record from 2-7 to 6-7 but the ERA remains too high. Bottom line though is a win is a win. -- AlToss in back to back shut outs in the double header today as well!!!...Sammy
Looking forward to the games as well, Jason. Hope the weather cooperates as we have been having a rough time in terms of rain and violent T-storms for a couple of weeks now. We'll be throwing Gonzalez, Strasburg, and Zimmermann, all of whom have been a bit iffy this season. Should be a good series.:smile2: -- AlAl:
I am really looking forward to the Giants and Nats series over the 4th of July weekend.
It should be a good one.

Jason, I was looking at the listed start times. The start time for the Friday game is listed as 6pm here (3pm your time). The game on Saturday is listed as an 11am start (4th of July celebrations afterward, and all that), which will be 8am your time. Sunday's game is the ESPN game, starting at 8pm here, 5 pm you. At least these times are what show on the Nat's schedule. If the times have been changed, they have not updated them on my end. -- AlAl:
The scary thing for me with the Nat's pitching staff is when they are on they are on. As in unhittable on.
Noon start time for Friday's game on the West Coast. Might be a kegs and eggs morning.
