Even though it's trained, what do you expect them to do. That is the problem with the steroid era. Heck, I tuned in the game just to see if he could do it.

Nats sweep the erstwhile hot Pirates out of DC. Possibly our best series of the season. Shutdown the Pirates offense and beat-up their pitching. Nats outscored the Pirates 19-3 and outhit them 34-14 over the 3 games. Maybe we can use this as a springboard to get moving again, like May. -- Al

A great road series for the Os, took 2 of 3 from the red hot Bluejays who have owned us this year until this weekend, good hitting is finally coming around...Sammy

Sammy, today's roller coaster had me tearing my already thinning hair out. 7 runs scored in the top of the 2nd only to give 6 back in the bottom.:rolleyes2: Tillman didn't have squat today. At least the O's kept hammering at them and then struck the fatal blow in the 9th. Glad to see them scoring runs and Paredes and Parmelee have been a welcome addition but Tillman is still a worry and now Wright is struggling. O's pitching really needs consistency. -- Al

Been watching Boston's Wade Miley turn his season around. Saw him pitch against Washington and Baltimore in April and get the tar whipped out of him in both games, lasting 2.1 innings in each start and giving up 7 runs in each start. After 6 starts he was 1-4 with a 6.91 ERA but he has done a decent job of turning that around. He is now 7-6 after today's win against KC in which he gave up 0 runs and has lowered his ERA to 4.50, not great but a lot more effective than near 7. He leads Boston in wins and has had 6 QS in his last 8 turns. Nice turnaround. -- Al

Fun with numbers (unless you are Tampa Bay): Tampa Bay leads the AL East in the standings but is dead last in MLB in attendance, drawing a paltry 14,326 fanatical fans per game. Even Miami is over 21,000 a game. Pitiful. -- Al

As much as I would love to see the O's in front by 7 or 8 games got to say this has been kinda fun watching 4 teams fighting for 1st place in the AL East all season, now only 2 games seperate NY, TB, Tor. Bal. even Boston is not out of the running being 8 or 9 out isn't terrible at this point, it's like late Sept. score board watching!! going to be interesting 2nd half of the season for sure...Sammy

Me and Miss Tiffany are at the game.

Dear Red Sox,

Don't suck tonight.

Sincerely,
Me

Well that was a fun night out.

Some ballbag named Lough, number nine hitter with a whopping 226 average, in because Jones is hurt, hits a three run home run.

Number nine hitter to boot.

In the storied history of baseball, names we remember; Mantle, Ruth, Gehrig, Mays, Aaron,................lough.

Seriously; L-O-U-G-H.

The Baltimore Orioles; inventing new and exciting ways to piss me off.

Unbelievable.

Strasburg came off the DL with 5 scoreless innings for the Nats and got the win over Atlanta. Maybe, just maybe, he can get back to form. His return does put all 5 of the Nats starting pitchers back in the rotation together for the first time in several weeks. -- Al

Nats took their 5th in a row tonight, a 2-1 win in 11 innings over Atlanta. This 5 game streak is the best pitching stretch the Nats starters have had this season. With Zimmermann's 8 shutout innings (the closer blew the 1-0 lead to force extra innings), the Nats starters have allowed 1 earned run over their last 36.1 innings in those 5 games. Hope they keep it up. -- Al

To those fans that think the AL East is a weak sister this season, please note that the AL East is the ONLY division in MLB with 4 teams at .500 or better. They're beating someone.:wink2: -- Al

And their run producing is among the highest for most teams. ( Toronto 1st. and Yankees 2nd. )Michael

Signs that the apocalypse is upon us: Nick Markakis (former O's and current Atlanta Brave right fielder) committed a fielding error on the first play of today's game against the Nats. It was the first error Markakis has committed after a streak of 398 straight games without an error. -- Al

Forgot to mention that it was a MLB record streak for RF (maybe whole outfield, not sure:redface2:). -- Al

Mets finally did something they haven't done in a week: win {eek3}

On the heels of the Pirate sweep, the Nats just swept the Braves out of town, outscoring them 12-2 over the 3 games. Nat's starting pitching still on a role as in these 6 straight wins, the pitchers have combined for 43.1 innings and have allowed just 1 earned run. Today, Doug Fister joined the line as he went 7 shutout innings in a 7-0 win. Nat's starters now also have a 41.1 inning scoreless streak in progress. Scherzer back up tomorrow in Philly. -- Al
