:) :)...a good day.

The O's took two out of three from the MFY's, Sox took two out of three from the Jays.

We both did our jobs.

They play each other next; I'm hoping a meteor hits MFY stadium and both teams disappear off the face of the earth.

Sorry but Cespedes is not scheduled to play the Jays in the regular season but will play the Yankees, although at Citifield.

Hopefully the blast radius will envelope Boston and its Pathetics during the football game...The Steeleers should be ok, as they all will be in the cover of their lockeroom ,protecting their game plans from Belecheks stooges. God forbid, he should ever have to play a game straight..Michael

The Giants are fading fast. Although not mathematically eliminated there seems to be to much ground to make up, especially with their current rotation.

Amazins took care of business tonight. The Man, the Myth, the Legend won his 14th and drove in a run. He extended his scoreless streak to 31 until Braves snapped it in the 7th.

Cespedes may be your August/September MVP but Colon is your team MVP for the year. He has gone out for every turn, eaten innings and won games, anchoring a young rotation by showing them how it's done. The old man deserves the recognition, even over all the youngsters. -- Al

He is pretty amazing, admittedly doing it against inferior competition but still impressive, not to mention he has the most hits for the pitchers on the team. I read that he holds the record for most scoreless inning for pitchers over 42 years of age, admittedly, again, there have not been a lot of pitchers over 42.

He seems unflappable and his expression never seems to change. If I had to choose between him and Niese for the post season rotation, assuming they get there, it would not be a competition.

Saw an interesting article about Matt Williams in today's Washington Post. Some players say he shows tension while on the bench and that this affects some of the players. He's in a tough spot. I'm sure he will learn a lot from a season like this and will make him better as a manager, whether for the Nationals or some other team.

Brad, it was an interesting article and I thought the most telling point in regards to Williams and his future in DC was the lack of public support from ownership, the Lerners. Like all of DC, the Lerners are extremely disappointed in how this season has evolved. The team was built to win and win this year, as FA will change the face of the team over the off-season. The goal for the Lerner's was to win this year because of the advanced age of the principal owner, Ted. Win it for the old man, as it were. There is a LOT of disappointment. I personally don't expect Williams to survive. Although many of the problems were beyond his control, such as injuries and underperforming vets, he has made many mistakes, tactically and strategically, and continues to repeat those mistakes. He seemingly fails to adapt. His handling of the pitchers is case in point, and specifically the disasterous misuse of the bullpen in the recent St. Louis and NY series. Williams may eventually learn from the errors and become a good manager, but I will be very surprised if he stays in DC. -- Al

I guess someone has to pay the price Al for high expectations. Even though I was obviously glad the Mets beat the Nationals on Wednesday, the guy who I really felt badly for was Storen. You could see the disappointment etched in his face after he gave up that HR to Cespedes. You just had to feel for him. I don't know if he needs a change of scenery but perhaps being made the closer again is the key.

Brad, I like Storen but he definitely needs out of DC, if for no other reason than ownership/management has no confidence in him as a closer, which they have proved when demoting him from closer when they brought in Soriano in 2014 and Papelbon this year. Storen has done everything asked of him, and done it well, for the most part, but it is obvious that the demotion from closer this season has done a number on him, and who can hold him responsible? He needs the change of scenary for his own piece of mind and he deserves the chance to succeed for a team that will have confidence in him. The Nats screwed him over, plain and simple, a bad decision in a season full of them. -- Al

Nats in Miami tonight. Must be all of 2000 fans in the stands. It's an echo chamber.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Yankees are getting a serious spanking tonight. They seemed to be headed to the WC.

I see Arrieta won his 19th today and lowered his ERA to 1.99 in the process. He is probably #2 behind Greinke for the Cy Young right now, but it's getting close. A bad game or two by Greinke and Arrieta could scoop it. -- Al

O's are having an interesting 8th inning. Went into the bottom of 8 trailing KC 6-4. They have hit 3 Hr's, including 2 Grand Slams, and have scored 10 runs. Reimold and Clevenger have the GS's, sandwiched around Machado's solo. O's lead 14-6 after 8. ^&grin -- Al

Cespedes hit another one tonight and now has 100 ribbies. The Mets road record is starting to look respectable, 35-37.

Toronto made the roster moves while the Yankees sat on their hands..Biggest difference,so far..On paper, the Jays are a much better team..Michael

True but teams were asking too much, such as Severino and Bird. Maybe not a good decision in the short run but better in the long run. I'm sure they will be players in the Cespedes sweepstakes.

Problem with that...Ellsbery,Gardner,Beltran ..OF..Arod...DH. Where do we put him? Michael

For a talent like him you find a place. Of course, I hope the Mets can sign him but I don't think that will happen. I'm just enjoying the magic carpet ride that he's taking them on.

This guy seems a genuine talent, yet he is already with his 4th club in 4 years and likely to make it 5 in 5. The talent is obvious, but why the jumping bean act? What's the word on his clubhouse presence? -- Al
