Baseball 2015 (2 Viewers)

How about the Bucs! It still sucks to be in the same division as the Cardinals. Another thing that is extremely irritating is we are going to wind up with probably the 3rd BEST record in all of baseball and be playing in a wildcard. That needs to stop and I have said it regardless of the team. I don't care about divisions, the playoffs need to be seeded at the end of the year based on best records. I have said that bout the NFL too, it is ridiculous to see mediocre teams in crappy divisions get a shot, they get hot and all of a sudden are in the mix, that is BS. Play the full year, it should count for something.

Not to mention that the Pirates are doing that with an $88 mil. payroll.

Impressive.

But NEVER underestimate the incompetence of the Arsonist Club. Cespedes returns the favor and it's 1-run and counting... Al
Tie game. A fine example of gutless baseball by the Nats bullpen, El Choko Supremo. If I wasn't so angry, I'd be laughing at the pure incompetency of the whole thing. Nats don't deserve the post-season. -- Al

Orioles have had a bad year, but how much worse would it have been without Chris Davis? He beat the NYY's tonight with his 41st Hr. Angelos better find the money to sign this man. -- Al

What a game!, one the Mets, by all rights, had no business in winning. When it was 7-1, I said, well, that's it, tomorrow is another day. This team, which from 1-8 has one of the best lineups in baseball, doesn't give up. It's like a dagger in the heart. Bullpen again did the job but, oh, that 7th inning. Wow!

Brad, your boys earned that win and I believe the East crown with it. Nats are broken. I don't think we'll be much bother to you all from this point on.:rolleyes2: Congratulations on the big win. It was impressive. -- Al

Al,

It was obviously a great win for them and was happy for Nieuwey and whether it's a five or a seven game lead, it's not over yet. As I've said, in 2007 we were up by 7 with 17 to go so nobody is ready to say it's over until it actually is.

Collins couldn't believe they came back; it's one of the craziest games I've ever seen and probably one that will go down in Mets lore.

I can imagine that sports talk in D.C. must have been burning up last night.

On top of all that, the Mets and Cespedes amended his contract so that the Mets will have more than five days after the end of the season to try and sign him.

Lots of fallout from the latest meltdown from the Nat's Arsonist Club. Realistically, the season is done for the Nats even if it is numerically still alive. Last night's meltdown is just the latest in a season long problem for the bullpen. Long relief and especially the 7th inning bridge was a gamble all year and it has finally killed the Nats. All goes back to last off-season when management broke up the bullpen, a classic case of fixing something that wasn't broken. The real loser, besides the team itself, is fan favorite Drew Storen, who has now been directly involved in the franchises 3 most painful losses; the 2012 playoff meltdown against the Cards; the 2014 blown save (led to the loss in 18 innings) against the Giants; and last night's season killng loss to the Mets. Storen is finished in DC. He has largely been an effective relief pitcher, but the 3 high profile collapses have made it evident he needs to relocate. He won't be alone as a third of the team are FA after the season. It will be a new Nationals team we see in 2016. -- Al

If it makes you feel any better, middle relief is the Achilles heel of many a team (including the Mets) and is always a work in progress; the Mets tinkered with it all the way through August 31. Although the middle relief has looked good the last couple of days (it was quite a revelation, let me tell you), it's been a problem all year and I don't know if it's turned the corner or merely a mirage. In the playoffs, the middle relief is what separates the very good teams from the good teams.

not much to cheer for any longer, but man would I love to see the O's win this series against the Yanks!!, just shows you how crazy baseball like any sport, a team can fall from grace or rise from the ashes, if you told me that the evil Yanks would be fighting for the East title and the Orioles would be in last place back in April I would have thought you were crazy, oh well, a series win tonite won't fix things but it would make the day just a little more fun...Sammy

Strasburg is pitching a whale of a game and his pitch count is low through five. That curveball is a killer.

He is having a good night. Now, if only he can get through the 7th inning... deGrom is equally sharp. A classic pitchers duel. -- Al

He struck out the side on curveballs in the 7th. Sometimes you have to tip your hat.

I'm beginning to wonder if Williams is a moron. Storen has proved himself a disaster since losing the closer's job, like last night, so what better way to drive home the point than use him again in a tie game? Un-freakin'-believable. -- Al

Unreal! {eek3} Cespedes has to get some serious consideration for MVP.

The National's bullpen is an authentic Arsonist Club. They really suck, from top to bottom. -- Al

He hung the breaking ball, plus he had just brushed back Cespedes. I saw Cespedes brushed back against the Rockies a couple of weeks ago and he smashed it. You do it at your peril with him.

I doubt the Mets will be able to afford him but let's enjoy him while he's here.

This is one of the best series I've ever see this franchise have.

It certainly was an impressive sweep. Nats had the lead in all 3 games and still couldn't get the job done. Tonight's loss by the Nats didn't surprise me (especially once the Arsonists took over), as the team was finished after last nights collapse. Mets look like winners, the Nats like they expect to lose. So it goes. -- Al
