O's took a drubbing tonight, losing to SD, 10-7. Not one of the bullpen's finer moments, but no harm done as every other team in the AL East was beaten, as well. New pet peeve -- That closer for SD, Fernando "I can't get my hat on straight" Rodney, looks like he hasn't got good sense with that sideways brim, and that bow and arrow act after he saves a game is bush league. -- Al

Well Al, it won't get any better tonite as I just read Buck is starting yours and yours truly most fav. O's pitcher!! yeep, ol Ubado is back in the lineup tonite :mad: unreal, how many lives does this cat have??...Sammy

Sammy, it is unfortunate but Buck's options are very limited. Until the O's get another starter, through whatever means, the O's simply have to keep running UJ out there. I can hardly wait. :rolleyes2: -- Al

I was going to reply earlier this morning 'yea now watch him throw a no hitter!!" :) but afraid I'd put even more of a jinx on the team ^&grin so got to give praise when praise is due and Ubaldo pulled out a decent game tonite for a solid win but as we both have stated that's the O's achilles heel this year, no consistent pitcher except for Tillman/Britton, but so it goes...we're up by 2 at games end tonite we get Machado back thurs. and as June is dwindling down if the O's can go into the break playing decent ball anything can happen...Sammy

Can't wait for this west coast road trip to be over for the Nats. It has been a disaster as the team is finding creative ways to lose and I am sleep deprived after staying up to watch these games that are ending in the 1:30 AM EST area.{sm2} Last night, the Nats managed to lose the lead and the game in the bottom of the 9th when a ground ball single rolled under the CFer's glove, all the way to the wall for a 3 base error while the batter scored the winning run for LA. I was less than impressed as the Nats losing streak hits 5.:rolleyes2: -- Al

At least they have the day off and get to recuperate a little bit!

Thank goodness. We go into Milwaukee for some much earlier games and then we come home to host you all. I hope we can regain our balance against the Brewers. We looked like crap against the Padres and Dodgers. -- Al

It seems like the Giants are doing everything they can to help me forget about what happened to the Sharks and Warriors. They have gone 12-2 in the last 14 games. Furthermore, they lost by 1 run in those 2 loses.

A brutal loss to the Braves last night. Reed served up a two run HR and I turned off the TV after that. Braves have proven particularly difficult for the Mets lately: four in a row. They have not played well in the last couple of weeks. Had the Nationals not lost five in a row, the division race might be over now.

Brad, the Nats and Mets are going to continue to battle it out. I don't see either team as capable of running off with the title, given that crucial injuries don't occur. Have to watch Miami, as well, though I don't think their starting pitching is deep enough to stay in the race all season. The Nats are prone to inconsistency with the bat and the bullpen is still something of a work in progress, especially right now with Papelbon on the DL and the closer position up in the air as a result. Going to be an important series against the Brewers for the Nats, as they must pull themselves together after that awful showing in LA and San Diego. The current 4 game lead can vanish very quickly. -- Al

Great time to be a fan in the Bay area; Sharks get over the hump and make it to the finals, Warriors have a historic season with 73 wins and go 7 games with Cleveland, now the Giants are rolling along and it's an even year and we all know what happens regarding the Giants and even (2010, 2012, 2014) years........................

I have not written the hated Dodgers off yet as they are "only" 6 games behind the Giants for first. You would think that being 20 games over .500 would ensure you a double digit lead but hats off to LA for staying in it.

Jason, greatest apologies for Washington's miserable failure to improve SF's lead over the Dodgers. We had a really bad series.:redface2: -- Al

Al:

That one game that ended on the error in the outfield was really embarrassing. I actually felt bad for that guy.

Yeah, that was Michael Taylor. He's usually a good outfielder and a so-so hitter, but that had to be his worst game at pro level. Not only did he commit that game-ending error, he fanned all 5 times at bat on only 22 total pitches. Fortunately, he seems to have put it behind him as he's playing tonight and has a hit. -- Al

Price had nothing last night and the Rangers led 6-0, the game all but over.

Not so fast, they chipped away 6-2, 7-4, then in the ninth, they scored two runs, had a runner on second with two outs and Mookie Betts hit a game tying two run bomb to dead center, then they scored again and won it 8-7.

They've been scuffling as of late, 12-16 over the past month or so, hopefully this dramatic win gets them rolling in the right direction before those plucky, LET'S GO O'S!!! get any further ahead in the division.

Picked by everyone to finish dead last in the division, their starters are a total dumpster fire, yet here they sit in first place.

That's all kinds of awesome..............................

So who needs Cy Young when 1 out of every 5.7 hits you make is a home run? Personally, I'd feel a lot better if the O's had more than one decent starting pitcher, but that's something the front office needs to address.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Mets are on the verge of signing Reyes for Act II. They have also demoted Conforto. He's been in a deep funk since the end of April. He's never been the same since he took an 0-5 against Baumgarner.

Now today was the Gausman that I remember from last year!!!!! pitched a hell of a game, no runs/4 hits and the O's gave him 5 runs for a change!! if Gausman can find his form of last year (and today) and Tillman continues to toss like he's doing??? the AL East would have more worries then the O's batting line up...Sammy

True. It was start #13 (Lucky 13) and Gausman looked great. He has 7 QS in his 13 starts, so he hasn't been pitching badly, he's just been a bit unlucky with the run support. Tillman and Gausman are a good 1-2 punch, but we still need a 3-4 to go with them. -- Al
