Trumbo hit his 24th Hr today in the O's 12-6 win over the Padres. Point being, it was the 55th O's Hr in June, tying the MLB record for homers in June. Their 3rd straight game with 11+ runs. -- Al

Time to drug test the whole team....just saying..:rolleyes2:Michael

The O's are piling up some impressive offensive numbers: Trumbo has 23 (not 24, as I stated in error) Hr's and 60 RBI's; Davis has 19 and 52; Machado 18 and 49; Jones 16 and 50; Schoop 13 and 46; Wieters 9 and 37; Alvarez 9 and 26. Not bad for 7 of the 9 starters. -- Al

The Giants have lost three in a row to the A's, even Samardzija got rocked on Monday. However, I am not hitting the panic button yet as the Dodgers remain 6 games back.

I guess turnabout is fair play. A frustrating game. When the Mets had a chance to make it interesing in the 8th inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd and de Aza coming up I knew it was over. He's now hitting a robust .158.

From the frying pan into the fire: Cubs are coming in this weekend. If you think the Nats wanted revenge from last year, it's nothing compared to what the Cubs want. Then, the Marlins and the Murphy Nats again, speaking of which, when I think of the dangerous person in the Nats lineup, I think Murphy, not Harper. Nice move front office

I think it safe to say that Murphy is far and away the Nats MVP this season. He is hitting far above expectations. His 2 Hr's last night now give him 14, tied for his career high, after only half a season. I don't know what his secret is, but the Nats are thrilled to have him. If the Nats lead-off men ever start hitting, and Harper regains form, this will be a truly dangerous team. -- Al

Although we have half a season left, he might be the NL MVP. He's hitting .352 (leading the league), 14 HRs, 53 RBIs (tied for 8th) and 20 Doubles (the league leader has 24). What he lacks in defense he's making up in offense. It looks like people thought the Post Season was an aberration but he was starting to come on late last year and credited the Mets hitting coach with helping him. It's unfortunate he had a poor World Series.

I'm sure Alderson will never admit he made a mistake.

Cespedes hit a triple decker last night, http://m.mlb.com/news/article/187152500/mets-rally-to-take-opener-from-cubs

The game also included Lackey throwing a pitch over Matz' head when Matz when he was trying to bunt. Matz, as well as probably most everyone else, was surprised and took a step to Lackey but then thought better of it.
Big comeback win by the Mets. A loss would have left them 7 out with Hammel and Arrieta still to come. Hammel has become beatable so the Mets have a good chance to win the series. -- Al

To be honest Al, six games is a lot, considering the way the Nats are playing. They may have to focus on the Wild Card. Not enviable but it's a way in.

Going to be glad when the O's get out of Seattle. Been an ugly series and the starter for the O's in today's game is Jimenez, so how can that go wrong?:rolleyes2: Anyway, time to get out of Dodge and head to LA where the O's can attempt to right the ship a bit. Fortunately, no one in the AL East has been able to take immediate advantage of the O's bump in the road. -- Al

The Mets have taken the Cubs down a peg. The Mets are hurting and yet they've taken 3 straight from the SuperCubs. Could be the Cubs aren't as invincible as their 1st half record indicates. They are only 15-14 since June 1. -- Al

Baseball is a funny game. They've taken 3 from the Cubs and are bludgeoning the Cubs so far today but yet they couldn't buy a hit against the Nats. It's hard to pinpoint a cause but I think Brandon Nemmo has made a difference. McCarver used to say hitting is contagious and it may be so in this case.

Mets are putting a hurting on the Cubs. Better save some of those runs.

Cubs have brought in a catcher to pitch.

Nats had a good game today as Strasburg went to 11-0 on the season, going 6.2 innings of no-hit, no run ball. Ran out of gas in his first game back off the DL. Nats SS Danny Espinoza hit 2 Hr's to take over the team lead with 18, (Harper has 17). Espinoza bats in the 8th spot. He's got 15 Hr's in the last 36 games. Win #50 for the Nats. -- Al

Good riddance to Seattle. Another UJ special, and the O's get swept. The O's demoted another starting pitcher after last nights loss which basically leaves them with 3 starters, Tillman, Gausman, and Gallardo. Plus UJ and whoever else happens to be breathing when their number comes up. They need to sign a legit starter from somewhere. -- Al

I have been out of the loop for a few days dealing with some personal issues so I am just getting caught about on baseball etc.

Just one question? What is with the football type scores?

LOL. There have been some rather large scores rung up the last several days...21-2, 17-5, 17-1, 14-3, 13-4, and a bunch of 12's. Pitching took off for the holidays in a lot of games. :rolleyes2: -- Al

You know Al, it seems every year the O's have a thorn in their side from some team that's so-so a few years back the A's were having a awful year but killed the O's at every turn, last year the Twins (decent team) swept the Orioles 7-0!! so I'm just glad were done with Seattle and it's just one of those series/teams we struggle with and hopefully we can get back to the Win column against the Dodgers...Sammy

Al,

I also noticed lots of position players being used as relief pitchers.

These scores are comical.
