The Giants recent schedule has been "Treefrog intensive" these past couple of weeks with series against the Sox (George), the Nats (Al), the O's (Al/Sammy) the Pirates (Tom) and now the Mets (Brad).

Interesting you point that out, Sammy. On the pre-game show they made a point of the stat that Gausman had the lowest run support of any starting pitcher in MLB on a team that was over.500. I hope Gausman doesn't let this sudden bounty go to his head. - Al
It was raining O's Hr's again tonight as they hit 6 in the rout of Houston, 13-5. Hardy hit 2; Trumbo hit his 35th; Machado his 27th and Davis hit 2 to reach 27. Good chance the O's could end up with 4 guys hitting 30+ Hrs. -- Al

Al:

The Giants recently experienced the home run barrages that the O's can produce. The thing that amazes me is that most of their HR's are bombs/no doubters and they hit them on the road and at home.

Any reason why not O fans should wonder if Davis is passing out his PEDS ,sorry, Meds to the rest of the team?:rolleyes2:Michael

Fun with numbers: One of the reasons the Nats sit where they do today, as compared with last seasons disaster, is the much improved fielding. Last season, the Nats committed 90 errors which led to 58 unearned runs (nearly half of those in April) and this helped undermine the Nats efforts. This season, after 120 games, the Nats have committed only 48 errors, allowing 29 unearned runs. One of the major improvements has been at SS. Last year's SS, Ian Desmond, committed 27 errors with a fielding % of 96.0 while this year's SS, Danny Espinosa, has committed only 10 errors with a fielding % of 97.8, an important difference. Defense sometimes gets overshadowed but it is one of the 3 major aspects of baseball. -- Al

Al:

I think Dusty Baker has a lot to do with improved fielding and the team's better play in general. I am not knocking Matt Williams but the Nats are clearly a different team with Baker at the helm.

Yeah, O's get 4 Hr's in the 1st and then that bum Miley gives it all back and then some in the 2nd. Miley has been a disaster since coming to the O's. He's gone 17 innings in 4 starts, allowing 28 hits and 18 earnrd runs. Just what we need, another UJ. -- Al

Well he's out of there now and my fav. Ubado is in...just can't figure out what Showalter has against Tyler Wright??? PLEASE give this young man a real shot to become a starter instead of this washed up lefty/Bado!!!

The O's pitchers are sure embarrassing themselves tonight. 3 pitchers so far, 12 runs in 6 innings, and the ERA's are 5.58, 6.94, and 5.32. How are these guys on a major league team, or any team for that matter? This is a disgrace. -- Al

My God......How does a team hit 5 hrs and get blown out!!?? Just unbelievable

Guess we have to look on the bright side...it only counts as one loss...the O's did stop the Astros from scoring in the 3rd and 8th...only 15 of the 23 Astros baserunners scored.:rolleyes2: Next. -- Al

Well at least the Jays lost so only 1.5 out of first, this is crazy I can't remember when the last time you had 3 teams in the East so close this late??? it's like you can go from first place to third place in one night{eek3} and even the evil Yanks who blew their team up a few weeks ago are making noise, got to say it makes it very interesting to be watching the score board so close and we are not even into September yet, it's fun but man it's tense and can only imagine what the last few weeks might be like if things stay the same, good luck to George's Sox, Louis's Yanks, and Al and my O's, screw the blue birds as I can't stand them...Sammy

I can't tell you how much more fun it is to watch the young Yankees prospects playing for a shot to stay in the bigs, then it was to watch the old has-beens playing out the string. I am hoping a few of these prospects pan out and become young, home grown starters of the future.

As usual, the AL East is the most competitive division race in baseball, with 3 teams on top of each other and the 4th lurking and waiting for an opening. Like you say Sammy, September is going to be a hoot. What a great game this is. -- Al

Good thing the O's can bring the thunder, as the team ERA of the O's is the worst of any team in baseball with a .500 or better record. It now ranks 20th out of 30 teams, and it sure isn't the bullpen's fault.:rolleyes2: -- Al
