The Giants had the night off so I watched a ton of highlights/news to get my MLB fix.

Trumbo's homer was huge, the Strasburg injury was disheartening, Price pitched a gem, this new guy Sanchez on the Yankees seem legit and the Dodgers crushed the Reds. However that catch by Benintendi for the Sox was by far the play of the night.
Trumbo's having a tremendous year. It was his 38th. Also for the O's, Schoop hit his 20th of the year, giving the O's 5 men with 20 or more Hr's, and a 6th, Pedro Alvarez waiting to join the club with 19. This team can bop. -- Al

O's took the Nats to school again tonight behind a great game from Gausman. O's need to figure a way to get all of Gausman's starts at home. He's no where near the same pitcher on the road and it is a real puzzle. The Nats have not put their best foot forward so far. The 2 pitchers they've started against the power-hitting O's have a grand total of 6 major league starts between them. We'll see if the Nats can do a bit better behind Roark and Scherzer back in DC. -- Al

ESPN reporting that O's ace Tillman is likely headed to the 15-day DL. Considering the state of the O's rotation, with only 2 other decent starters, this could spell disaster, especially at this crucial juncture, with the O's scrambling to stay in the race. I honestly have no idea how the O's can overcome the loss of Tillman for even the 2-3 starts the DL would cost them. Crank up the bats, boys, we are going to need them. This means the O's staff ace will be the 7-win Bundy and the #2 man is the 5-win Gausman, although that's not as grim as it sounds since both have been pitching really well. Starters #4 and 5 are anyone's guess. -- Al

I hope the O's pack the big bats going into D.C. today, we'll need them, my fav. Ubado and his sidekick Miley are set to go the next 2 nights :(:( in the past I'm sure we all have become disgruntled with certain pitchers on teams we pull for but I really dislike the Miley trade more then Ubaldo's pitching and that's saying a lot!!!!!!!! oh well, maybe my Batman & Robin can get through one or two innings this time, if not I hope we can hit 5-6 Hr's a game, oh wait we did that last week with Miley/Bado and still lost!! swing for the fences boys, gonna need all the runs we can!!:)...Sammy

The Giants got knocked around pretty good by the Dodgers last night. Bumgarner does not seem like himself, although both he and the Giants claim that he is not injured. Who knows? Maybe some teams have him figured out? In any event hopefully Cueto can right the ship tonight.

Sammy, there is no doubt the Miley trade has been a major disaster to this point and uBADo is just bad. I would love to see the O's dump uBADo and Miley, as well, if he shows no improvement in the next start. Problem is, who do they use instead? Gallardo stays through neccesity (and money) or I'd dump him too. If they had anyone in the minors, they would be up by now. I guess it's Wilson, Wright, and maybe Worley. Someone has to step up and help Bundy and Gausman until Tillman returns. The O's need to have a better chance at winning than 2 of every 5 games. -- Al

uBADo, classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nats are playing bad ball right now. Startrd to go south against Colorado 9 games ago. Started giving up a lot of runs and playing sloppy and it cotinued against Atlanta. Won that series 3-1 but they looked flat doing it and the bullpen was useless. The O's are currently making hash of the Nats, a B/W Parkway Massacre, if you will. Nothing going right...the bullpen is shot...no timely hitting...and the fielding has gone to Hades. After making only 48 errors in the first 120 games, the Nats have committed 12 in the last 6. It's like someone exchanged the good Nats with a team of rank amateurs. It's one of those stretches, I suppose. They are 13 games into a run of 20 games in 20 days and they look like they are really dragging. -- Al

Thanks for the help Nationals; second best record in baseball and they've lost three in a row to the LET'S GO O'S!!

Thanks for nothing.

Shocker alert****** Miley only gives up 2 runs on 7 hits!!! Finally a decent outing by the lefty to get a win, now can his sidekick Ubaldo toss a decent one as well???...Sammy

Maybe the Yanks had the right idea about their youth movement. Mc Cann seems out of a catchers job and though some of the new guys have leveled off in production, it seems there are some future big time players in the bunch and they are still winning. Michael

A good outing by uBADo might not be as unlikely as it sounds. The Nats have a habit of turning bad opposing pitchers into Cy Young, like last night. But the biggest thing the O's have going for them are those Hr bats going against Max 'Gopher ball' Scherzer tonight. Mad Max is up and down. He is either dominant or Hr's start leaving the park like a meteor shower, (he has yielded 25 Hr's in 174 innings). Will tune in to see which Max shows up but my feeling is the O's have a better than even chance to finish the B/W Parkway Massacre with a sweep. -- Al

Shocker part II, just read the Ubad is 4-0 at the Nats home field with a 1.91 ERA, not to shabby, so let's hope the good Ubaldo shows and gopher Scherz is tossing up some moon shots...Sammy

As a sports fan I feel that every game is a "must win", however some games are more "must win" than others. Tonight is one of those games for the Giants.

The O's got a rare great start out of uBADo but it didn't matter as the 'good' Mad Max showed up and shut down the O's on 2 hits over 8 innings, Nats winning 4-0. Nats salvage the last game of the 4 against the O's but the O's really beat them up. -- Al

I hope Moore is up to the challenge. I don't think SF can afford to go 4 down. -- Al

Well doing a little digging this morning, the O's, Sox, Jays have all played 127 games as of today with 1 game seperating the 3..unreal{eek3}{eek3} here's how the 3 stack up against each other going into the final 35 games.

Orioles...play Jays 6 more times....play the Sox 7 more times

Red Sox....play Jays 6 more times...play the O's 7 more times

Jays...play the Sox 6 more times...play the O's 6 more times

Can't get much more closer then that, the very last series has the O's in New York, while the Sox are home against the Jays, it wouldn't surprise me those last series decide who wins the East, been that way all season and with all 3 teams having a balanced schedule I see not much changing,........ footballl??? what's that???^&grin...Sammy
