Battle Scene Productions monthly report.

In the quest to bring new blood into our hobby the Battle Scene productions Web Site has had 2000 new visitors per month for the past two months of operation, with 6000 total hits per month. About 15% o those totals come from the forums we are known on. So that means 85% is new blood, and we have not even begun our magazine cross promotions, with some of the leading military publications.

If we are successful in our quest to bring new collectors to the hobby, the manufacturers will be very happy, and will be encouraged to produce more of the products we want to see.

We have a long way to go, but when things get rolling, we hope to attract 100,000 visitors this year. Once again, we thank you for your help, but it is not up to us any more, we all did our job. Battle Scene Productions has to keep moving forward with new ideas and improving our techniques to push our Battle Scenes even closer to the edge of reality.

We miss conversing with the troops on a regular basis, because the Web Site demands a lot of our attention, we are so happy to see so many members taking pictures and doing dioramas. A very well done to all of you who are further enjoying this hobby through the satisfaction of placing your figures in a realistic setting. Who would ever imagined the success of the innocent topic Carlos started over a year ago. Alex

Alex,

I'm really glad your new site is getting a lot of hits. It should do. The site is very well thought out and easy to navigate and the quality of the dios is first rate. I hope that you and Nick keep it going at the same pace, it's obvious that you've put a lot of sweat and tears in to it.

Many thanks
Simon

The new challenges are a bit intimidating, we have got the WWII thing down pretty good, but some of this new stuff is mind boggling. I just bought a lot of research books, and I am getting quite a history lesson. It is quite educational and a lot of fun. Alex

Just a little teaser of things to come. This is just a test shot with a cheap camera. Hold on to your seats boys the ride is just beginning. Alex

I,m glad to see you guys are venturing out into other eras in time, but is that a telephone pole in the background? If so I think you need a little more historical research.:p

Nice work alex, looking forward to seeing more work in other eras.

Battle Scene Productions should know better than release a product before it's time. This has become a Forum of consummate professionals and Battle Scene Productions has to maintain its standards, test shot or not:eek:. We were mostly interested in the technology and showing off Nicks new brick work. Alex

Wow your quick Alex! I was only busting your chops,I doubt half the others even noticed it. I,ve got a few ideas for you guys that are easy to make up for back ground pieces for 18th-19th century dioramas. Small fences and baricades can be made from small twiggs and branches from real trees and look natural. You can drill out small twiggs and stick tooth picks through them and paint the toothpicks a natural wood color and make spiked baricades like they used in the civil war and other wars.

Civil war trenches and WWI trenches ect. can be made from foam filed to shape and small twiggs glued to the inside as shoreing for a nice effect.

During the civil war in the south lots of fences were made by stacking long logs on top of each other on angles that looked like a bunch of W,s back to back if you know what I mean??? WWWWWWWWW These can be made easy with small twiggs and branches stacked on top of each other.

Dried flowers and small twiggs make great background scenic pieces. These can be stuck into foam pieces and shaped to size and made to be moveable so you can make them look different every time by just moving them around. Just flock them with some railroad grass and dirt and glue it down and stick the stuff right into the foam. Rocks and rock formations can be made from the foam also by just taking a bastard file or rasp to a small piece of foam and painting it up.
There are lots of options, the best bet is to search the web for photos and paintings from the eras you wish to cover.

Lots of this stuff can be used for other eras also so the farther back in time you go the more milage you,ll get from the pieces you make. A revolutionary war piece/Napoleonic/civil war can be used in a WWII diorama but a modern piece can,t be used be used in an 18th century setting, The telephone poles would look out of place!:p

I know you were joking, but never hesitate to critique our work, that is how we improve. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Some items you mentioned are in production already. This changing of eras is so exciting. WWII has been way over done by us and others, and we don't want to keep doing the same theme.

We have created many WWII environments, and we will do more, but if everything works out as planned, there is going to be a ton of new and diversified projects. We will consult you if we get stuck on anything.

Thanks
Alex

Here are a couple of scratch built pieces that I made for civil war or napoleonic era use. The back ground scenery is all scratch built also.
