Hello all! I was wondering what you all think is the best World War 2 line of soldiers out there? My guess would be King & Country, but was just wanting to hear what others thought? Thanks!

To avoid problems, what criteria is to be used to determine the 'best'? Sculpts? Paint? Variety? Matte vs Glossy? Available AFV's or aircraft? Scale? Just asking. -- Al

Forgot the very important price/value catagory. -- Al

I don't think it is possible to say what the best WWII line is. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and cater to overlapping but different markets.

If range of choice is your main focus, then K&C hands down, but there will be sacrifices on price and detail. If price is the issue, TGM and CS are the way to go, but then choice is smaller and historical accuracy is less. If historical accuracy and realism is important, then FL or Figarti, but prices are higher, choice is more limited.

IMO, there is no best.

Hi Terry I just picked what I liked best and that just my opinion , not saying it the best and I'm not going down that road

Nothing wrong with picking a specific model and saying it's your favourite. That's much different than saying who the best maker of WWII models is. It's the kind of question that may be answered by a collector for himself only after he has some experience with what is made by the different makers specific to his wants.

Who's best? Like Terry has indicated, it's really apples and oranges in so many ways.
I can say whom I prefer though, and for WWII that would be K & C by far. I enjoy Figarti quite a bit as as well.

We all dance to a different Drummer...and thats how it should be!!!!!.

First Legion Stalingrad series, they are second to none. (TRUST ME 2012 WAKE UP!!!!!):wink2:

I collect WWII matte from 4 different companies.....not going to start a who is better than the other debate. One thing
To appreciate there is always something new and in demand from the various companies giving collectors "choices"

In depth it would have to go to K&C for the diversity that they cover. detail, accuracy best, worst etc is down to the individual and should not be forced upon another person. mine is clearly better than yours that we hear so often from the few is a subjective evaluation based on nothing more than a individual perception.

What I would say is that the best WWII line in terms of AFV's would IMO still go to HB. I have AFV's from all the main manufacturers and, HB still, cannot be beaten. figures were a different thing but, I would go as far to say they are sublime. I would not have anything else in my collection had they continued production

Differant people definately have differant tastes and price has to be factored in as some of the stuff out there is really quite expensive almost regardless of budget.

For me I like 1/32 Conte/Britains/Frontline figures and Forces of Valor/21st century vehicles. There is a huge advantage with this in that they are at the cheaper end of the scale and can be rounded out with a huge amount of plastic figures particularly if painted well.

If I could afford it the only 1/30 ish scale I really rate is First Legion.

It is really strange what people do and do not like for example I really do not like K&C except for a small handful of pieces generally finding there stuff cartoony.

Anyway I digress single best ww2 line : Conte

I am looking at the thread title...It states which is the best line, not favorite manufacturer...So if I have this correct I think the best LINE is Thomas Guns US PARAS. Why...Because my favorite real life soldiers are US WWII PARAS.

IMO The best detailed are First Legion

The Lagest selection is obviously K&C

IMO The best value all things considered is Thomas Gunn

This is all WWII

My two-cents: Variety goes to KC; Detail and painting goes to FL; Bang for the buck goes to Collector's Showcase AFV's. Only grading manufacturers still producing WW2 vehicles, since I love the AFV's. -- Al

I have done the KC thing& I have done the CS thing, I have also done the Figarti thing. You have to
ask your self am I into Fig's or AFV or both. And if you are into collecting and interested more on what
took place "EASTWARD", Then I suggest FIRST LEGION!!!!! but if you are more into tilly's & Willy's and
your local RAF well stick to your KC,

SALUTE, :salute::

I agree with Lancer's assessment and I'll add that JJD and TG are very comparable to K&C in terms of quality and size. As for the best line/range that is easy.......OPERATION MARKET GARDEN by K&C of course! {sm4}

Best WW2 line??? No way there is a “right” answer, but if that's the question, to me the answer is quite simple: the one you like best! I only collect WW2 matte, and I have K&C, Figarti, Thomas Gunn, HB and CS. Just about to have my first FL item, a T-34/76... Each manufacturer has his strengths and weaknesses, so I tend to focus on what to me are the good stuff each one comes out with. :wink2:

Completely Agree.....Facts are Facts.......First Legion is definitely the most detailed, realistic, true 1:30th scale WWII product out there today....... AFV's are excellent especially the Grey PanzerIII (My personal favorite) Which is in perfect scale balance with their figures....Now the winter T-34......EXCELLENT...............and Now Matt is getting into WWII Normandy....those figures appear to be superb for the guys who want the "western front"....First Legion Rules....of course that is only my humble (honest) opinion:wink2:
