Bloody April 1917 - Algy Answers the Call (2 Viewers)

John's latest little vehicle is so versatile and fits nicely here. That backdrop is seamless to your terrain, just supberb. Robin.

Excellent scene Moe. Love the new DH-2. Looks great.

Very nice pic and well laid out scene Moe.

Thanks Robin. The airplane and vehicle replicas are new, but some of the other sets are among the earliest in the KotS range. The BGC sets are really interchangeable with any of the models, making them VERY useful in expanded scenes. In that sense, it's really hard to go wrong with an acquisition.

I certainly agree that it's a great little model, Duke. As I mentioned on the JJD forum, it had a heck of a "gestation period" but has proven to be well worth the wait.:D

Thank you, Tom. Modesty dictates that I point out how well these Jenkins' sets mesh with one another. Invariably, the figures and all come together more or less flawlessly. I just set up the sets and take some pics.

Sincerest thanks, Mike. You know, I don't even know how many JJ models that I own. Perhaps a little ignorance helps insulate my psyche from having sunk so many $$$ into collectible toys! ;)

Well, thank you Mike. You're always so generous in your praise of others, here, on the forum. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment and encouragement.:)

Reminded me of a scene taken from the 1970s movie Aces High. Par Excellence!

Excellent production Moe. The photos have really done justice to a stunning set up. The light is just right and the back scene sets it all off perfectly. Great models.

Chocks away!

Thanks Bob! Seems as though Hollywood is stirred into addressing the subject at least once a decade. My favorite is still The Blue Max. To the good is the fact that nice replicas are so widely flown today. Perhaps there's hope for an upgrade.

Amen to the "nice models" end of the equation. They make an eye catching display pretty effortless. And, Thank you, Malcolm, for your kind words.:)

Thanks, Steve! I attribute the ease to which the sets go together to Jenkins' grasp of color. The colors in camouflage are supposed to compliment rather than contrast. Wish everyone in the the TS-biz understood this.

Absolutely brilliant mate should be on JJD website.

Thank you so much, Wayne. Again, IMO, virtually all the kudos go to JJ's ACE and BGC sets. The German sets, GGC, are nice, but not nearly as deep. In fact, less than half the British "ground-crew" sets are out there. Had I more room (and another DH.2, or so ;)), I could have put them all in without a hint of one being out of place. The range is that well integrated.

@Everyone, Thanks again! :D

Excellent scenes Moe. The angles you photographed the lorry and DH2 are really outstanding. Seamless backdrop. Chris

Thank you, Chris. I do like taking the camera down low, because it produces views that are so familiar to us. One challlenge of doing this is actually working all of the sets into the pics. Sometimes, however, I'm afraid that a figure is so completely obscured by pieces in the foreground as to be all but invisible from the front. In this instance, a figure is darn near lost, that being a "chocs away" set that's about to hand-crank the DH.2's prop. Its legs show up in a couple of the previous pics, but that's about it. I found a few pics of the guy in the file stash as I was cleaning it out. The images are far less than ideal, composition-wise, but there he is:

Really love this thread, Moe. Sorry I'm so late to it and I have no idea how I missed it to start with. These are superb pictures and rank as favorites of mine when discussing your work. Your series of airfields at work, both Allied and German, are unequaled in their ability to evoke the memory of that long-ago air war. Bravo.:salute:: -- Al

Thank you, Al. Glad that I got you connected to the pics. With the Hun in acendency, I'm thinking that the RFC will be leaning pretty heavily on Algy. May providence shield our intrepid young airman from harm!:D;)

If we're talking April, 1917, Algy is going to need plenty of help from all quarters. :wink2: -- Al

Moe,

Sorry that I am late in seeing this too. You did a superb job with this scene! Seamless backdrop, great figure positioning and nice story line.

Mark, thank you for your several kind and generous comments.:) I posted the thread on the 4th of July weekend. That may have been convenient for me, but I'm sure that a lot of members were tied-up with holiday activities, cookouts and such. Truly glad you like the pics, and thanks, again, for the encouragement. :D
