Bored Tonight...Post a Diorama, LOL (4 Viewers)

1. I did not attack you. My initial comment listed as just my opinion.

2. Why bring comments intended to not turn all the Forums into a

Giant Commercial to this Forum?

3. My point was show your items, thats fine lots of members do......

just save the hard sell. Most of us get the message.....now available

on other websites......I've seen that like 20 times.

Njja:eek:

The pics are very well done, the self promotion does nothing for me, but it's nothing worse than someone like Gideon broadcasting repeatedly every e-bay item he posts and thats in direct competion with the host, NJJA never been anything but smiles with him. I guess it's who you know.
I'm just a little suprised (or maybe not) that NJJA has singled you out.
It's your personality, we all have an online personality, I think you've adjusted well from your initial foray into the forum.

Hey guys check out the attack NJJA laid on me on th other Forum, I have nothing to hide, so I would like you to see what it is all about. If you happen to agree with him, let me know, and I will not put any more dioramas on the Forum. I always like to mix things up a bit, it always seems to add interest to the Forum, I am only trying to provide some entertainment. Let me know Firebat

I'd say it was more of an observation than an attack, that's just Njja's straight forward manner. Maybe it's something to do with New Jersey guys as they seem to be overly represented in forum conflicts, as well as some members from Oz :)

Anyway, as you asked I think you put together some really good dioramas. Your use of ready made accessories gives us less clever collectors ideas of how to set up our collection. Your photo images are excellent and of a professional standard and bring life to your dioramas, and I look forward to seeing more of them.

However, I have to agree with Njja that the 'promotion' could be a little more subtle and slightly less frequent in the current amateur/collector section. To reduce conflicts with collectors images why not start a separate 'Get Real' thread as you use on the Toysoldierchat forum. That way you can list your pics with 'some' advertising without fear of any backlashes. MarcT started off that thread on Toysoldierchat basically for you because he pays for his advertising. Someone else has mentioned you're not the first to promote their services on this site and the good folk at Treefrog seem rather tolerant of such practices. So why not make good use of your own 'Get Real' thread where you can share your good works with free advertising.

Personally this discussion began on another Forum and there it should stay.

I will have no further comment on this topic here.

Discussion ended..........Everyone knows where to find my stuff by now, and it will be easy to find the upcoming ones...............

Could someone tell me what I am selling ...
Dear Alex,
I am only posting a reply because you asked the above question. First, I second the complements on your work -- your photos of your dioramas of "toy soldiers" look like historical war photos, and I greatly admire your work. Second, I personally do not care that you post portions of your photographed dioramas with disclaimers that you cannot post the whole diorama because the rights belong to someone else, asking forum members to go to one of your sponsors’ websites to see photos of your whole diorama. Now, to answer your question and please correct me if I am wrong: I believe you are “selling” the rights to your work to be used as a “plug” or a form of advertising pitch, hoping the interest in seeing more of your work will induce forum members and other potential customers to visit your sponsors’ websites. You have named two of your sponsors -- I know one of them personally and have purchased items from him, so please do not interpret this post as criticism of him or your other disclosed sponsor. If they “sponsor” you, you are receiving some type of compensation for the exclusive rights to your photos. In return, your sponsors get the potential of increased traffic on their websites from forum members who want to see your photos and are already interested in their products. Again, I personally do not care that you post your photos in this manner, but I do hope you can see how another person might interpret it.:)

P.S. As I was drafting this message, you posted your "discussion ended" post.

Personally I wouldn't like to see you ceasing the advertising of your services entirely. Although you haven't stated your costs I have gain the impression from your posts that you don't charge much for your dioramas. Why don't you start a specific thread advertising them? I don't think Treefrog would mind as I can't see self advertising conflicting with the jobs you do for other dealers.

Since this discussion is now over, hopefully, let me make a couple of observations (and this is not directed at anyone specifically):

1. Let's try to avoid attacking one another (although this will occasionally happen).

2. If you have something to sell, please post it to the appropriate forum such as Collectors Classified and Ebay Watch. I'd like to keep this thread devoid of that.

Thanks and enough is enough.
Back to what this thread was for .

Fubar,

Those dioramas are works of art! BTW, your photography is getting much better too (meant as a compliment). I've always enjoyed your work especially knowning the time it takes to paint and convert the figures and diorama pieces you put together.

Again, great job.

Carlos

You are the one that inspired me to do this, on that fateful night when I saw your excellent Marines diorama, and I said let me give this a shot. Thanks Alex

peace be with you......................

I've been moving some troops around, puttin away all the Napoleonics that have eeb on my table since July. Not hardly room for everyone anymore.Have to find room for the Scots Grays but in the meantime I took a couple shots.KC, Niena and Frontline. Not the greatest images but the collections are being rotated and theses were handy.
