Brad's Military Miniatures Collection (1 Viewer)

Randomness in collecting is the most fun!

Looking at the collections of the two of you, I can relate. There is obviously amazing stuff out there and my approach of NOT looking left or right in my collecting habits has helped remaining focused. You too have attractive collections. Congratulations.

I'm not sure my approach is completely random. I collect (or collected insofar as WW II is concerned) K & C WW II (but only the early stuff), K & C Gloss, Trophy (but only a few ranges), FL (some Naps, Seven Years War and a smattering of other ranges), JJD (Spanish Civil War and some WW I), AeroArt (Civil War) and WW I (across a few companies). I try to keep it in within those confines.

When I first started collecting, my dealer tried to talk me into buying the Cavalry sets. At the time I was just interested in purchasing troops and tanks and looked at him like he was crazy. He said one day you'll thank me. I eventually relented and not a moment too soon as the next day someone came in to buy them. It took me a few years but I was eventually able to get all seven sets.

Those are very nice Brad, what years were they made? I actually prefer these horses to the current ones.

These were also one of my all time favorite groups, represent a part of the german forces that were such a huge factor in the Wehrmacht (horses)

Flag bearer from K & C's first Alamo range which I believe was made for Kings X. It wasn't until years later that K & C acquired Kings X.

Ray, I had forgotten about the one with the cutlass, probably because I've never seen it. Here's an excerpt from the September 1996 Brochure.

Patton Command Car from King & Country's D Day range. This was the set that Andy had to withdraw from circulation because Patton's Estate got upset that he hadn't sought their permission to use Patton's name or likeness.

Brad,

Yeah but General Patton is a historical figure and (at one time) property of the US Government AND public domain. If I opened up the General Patton's Taco R Us would they sue? Sounds kinda silly that the family would balk over celebrating him in the form of a toy soldier. Unless, they want a cut of the sales for using Grandpa's fame. I think the General would love to see himself immortalized in the form of a Toy Soldier, statue or Taco stand. He did have the biggest EGO of all Generals.
