Brad's Military Miniatures Collection (1 Viewer)

I picked up this model at my first Chicago Show in 2005. He's a British Coomando, 6th British Commando, Holland 1944, and is 90mm. Heavy figure too. No idea who made it. I remember the seller having some other WW II figures. The seller was there in 2006 but never saw him again after that.

Count Vasily (Vaska) Orlov-Denisov from First Legion. A spectacular figure!

Orlov-Denisov is featured in Tolstoy's War and Peace.

Russian Akyhtrsky Hussar Trumpeter from First Legion's Napoleon's Europe Range.

In the summer of 2010 we traveled to China to visit family; my wife is Chinese. Tip: don't go to China in July. It's hot and very humid.

When we were in Shanghai, I called Rick and asked if we could visit the factory and he graciously showed us around (and took us to lunch). When we were there he said that I could have any figure or tank made by Figarti and he would have it painted especially, a one of a kind item. I chose the AVRE and Rick presented it to me at that year's Chicago Show. The last photo is the stock model.

i like the paint on yours much better! Cool piece to have!

Yes, it came out fantastic, thanks. Rick said that if any one visited the factory, they could pick out any piece they wanted. I think only a couple of people took him up on that.

My collecting habits are very linear, quite the opposite of yours and Zach's. But I totally admire the diversity. I am always looking forward to any new photos in this and Zach's threads because each of them will be surprising. But the real entertainment factor are the stories surrounding some of your pieces. Thank you both for doing this.

Thanks Andreas. Sometimes I wish I was more directed but it's not in my nature ^&grin I try to be more disciplined but it doesn't always work.

Thanks Al. It's a gorgeous plane and big.

Now, for something totally different! Royal Canadian Mounted Police from King & Country. These were the only RCMP made by K & C.

Davy Crockett from K & C's Alamo range. I saw this on eBay years ago and it was pretty inexpensive. I figured it was a one off for me but as with many other pieces, it led me to start collecting the range.

Wonderful figures Brad! Hopefully, K&C will add some more Mounties to accompany the bugler and constable they released as part of the collector's club.

Cheers,

Brendan

Brendan,

Thanks. Those were issued in the 90s so I don't know if we'll see K & C revisit them.

Rissaldar from the 25th Punjab Frontier Force Camel Corp by Somerset Ltd. Somerset, in my opinion, makes some of the best glossy figures. Somerset was the inspiration for the Camel Corps. figures made by King & Country.

Some of my favorites, as well. I have half-a-dozen of the regiment pictured, but I have never been able to afford to add the bugler and standard bearers. -- Al

Thanks Al and Martyn. The Somerset stuff is fabulous but not inexpensive!

For comparison, here is the Madras Light Horse Camel Troop from King & Country. It's not as well detailed or painted as the Somerset Camels but still quite nice.

Very nice Brad, I wonder if the SOmerset camels are matt painted then glossed? Hence the finer finish?
