Brand Loyalty.......an interesting and an often contentious topic, that is frequently raised on the forum to various degrees. Is there such a thing in regards to collecting TS, or is it all about price and availability?? Is there also such a thing as 'blind loyalty'......where collectors will buy anything a company makes for what ever price??

For me, price is ultimately the decider, but I also consider myself a 'loyal customer' to a point.......I now collect mainly one 'brand' of TS, but own a variety of figures/vehicles from several different companies, all of which I love.

Any thoughts on the subject fella's......??

Different horses for different courses. IMO it doesn't matter as long as the collector is happy with their decision making process. Beyond that nobody should really give a toss how an individual builds their collection. Well, that's my 20c worth anyway.

I'm with Jules on this one. As a consumer we pick what we like. If I like it, I will buy it. Kind of reminds me of employer loyalty in a way. Companies will think nothing about letting you go if it suits them, notwithstanding that a person may have been loyal to them for a lifetime.

I'm loyal to whatever company makes what I like, common sense with my money, and my judgement. --Al

great topic and my reply covers everything not just TS!!! For me it has nothing to do with price its about quality of product. It should be what it says it is on the box. No more no less. I don't fall for any of the marketing stuff that emanates from companies as most, if not all, is bull just aimed at getting you to part with your money to them and nobody else. That's why so much time and energy is spent on marketing. Its completely wasted on me as I only look at the detail I am never interested in the buy one get one free and all the other nonsense just as I will pull apart what is written and said about products as they never say that stuff for my benefit they only want the cash and custom.

So, I am not loyal to one brand of anything why should I be? They make a product if I like I buy if not they won't see my cash. That's about as far as it goes in both directions. Brad correctly alluded to the fact that loyalty is always directed from the customer to the manufacturer more than the other way. If a company has no interest in you they will just look to someone else that has what they want usually someone with more money to spend on their product.

Blind loyalty to a brand and its effects has been researched by psychologists and for me the problems this type of behaviour causes is rather dramatic, not only for the individual but those who have to be around them. When you find you are angry and annoyed at someone for not liking what you like or unable to stay calm when its stated its not as good as this other brand then its time to get help as there are deeper problems than the brand being attacked according to the opinion of these psychologists.

I personally just can't see why anyone can become annoyed because someone else does not like, finds faults or, prefers another brand to the one that they feel is best. If that is the case then the person they should contact and moan at is their brand chosen manufacturer for making inferior products or offering inferior services.

I just collect one brand, William Britain. There isn't really anything that other manufacturers make that interests me. I do not like to mix and match makers either.

It's all about price vs quality for me. There is no "brand royalty" in my book.

I have a skewked way of looking at things. So for me it's not what brand or company I am loyal to, it's what is the company doing to show thier loyalty to me for being a customer for x years. If the answer is they are doing nothing, then I do not owe them any loyalty. I think companies should have rewards programs to encourage loyalty. For example, if you buy X goods in one year, or X over a set number of years it entitles you to extra discounts and perks the average fanboy doesn't get.
This covers everything, not just TS.

Just my 3 cents.

I don't think that's skewed at all. As I tried to allude to in my initial post, loyalty is a two way street.

Personally speaking my favorite brand is.........King&Country. If someone else makes something that K&C does not and "I" like it I may buy it providing that the paint will not flake off and not be delivered in 4 pieces due to poor packaging issues. With the volume of new releases coming out every month I have no problem focusing on my K&C Interests :wink2:

Wayne....

Just to see if I am following what you and Brad are saying. do you mean that you are expecting trouble!!! that its only a matter of time before the drum bangers, Rah Rah's and defenders of the faith crawl out (no offence intended) to earn some brownie points for telling us mere mortals that a set is actually superb not just good in case we missed it with our lack of visual ability and cognitive functioning?? or, are you suggesting that there are people wanting to crawl out(again, no offence intended but, repeated for this alleged group to show no favouritism!!!) who would like to say that some stuff is junk, inflated beyond its worth, poorly painted, made or made up and, could not be accurate if they were given the blueprints??

I don't believe it of this forum!!!! I can't say I have seen either type of poster on this forum and what a shame it would be should this happen where you could not just talk toy soldiers on an interesting subject like this.

That should be 100 lines for both of you.. I must have more faith in the members of the forum

LOL!!! (obviously enlarged into capitals to ensure it's seen!!!!!)

I am very loyal with what ever I am collecting. I have seemed to of changed and love what I collect from all the maker's . Chris.{sm4}

I'll buy from whichever company produces the ranges I'm primarily interested in collecting. With FL its Stalingrad. With K&C its LAH. As long as these two companies keep producing quality, and they're within my budget, I'll keep collecting them. Having said that, I'm not a completist - I don't have to have everything released in these ranges - some of the figures and subjects don't really interest me. Apart from that I collect individual figures I like the look of, across many era's and conflicts, and from any manufacturer.

I prefer K/C's paint style and color scheme, but if another mfg. comes out with a model that is near the same size/scale and their color pallet is close, I would buy it. John Jenkins as well as some CS pieces would be acceptable. Michael
