Hi Again Guys,
Here's a picture of the small band of Hollow Cast Vintage Troopers guarding their General.

Awesome job. A good place to get Britains recasts if you're in the U.S is London Bridge Collector's Toys. If I knew how, I'd provide a link. They have a website.
Hi Hugh,
Thanks for the confirmation on the Field Marshall set number. I was wondering are there any markings on the figure that would enable me to ID it to a particular year or pre/post war?
As for the Imperial sets I love them and with I had more...
All the best

Dave,
Probably by the Britains copyright description on the belly of the horse. The wording/display used to change over the years, but I'm not an expert, so can't say. I know that it was produced in the 1950s and I think into the 60s. I have a post-war set, easily identified since its in a post-war "Regiment of All Nations" box instead of a pre-war Whistock style box.
Hi Pat,
I dont have a copy of that book but I have heard of it. I will tell you that the horse has what appear to be the correct Britains marks on its belly so I dont think its a fake however I do think it may be from post war 1950-1960s production be cause of the way the arms are attached. I am still doing some research and will let you all know if I find out anything significant. These points not withstanding I still am very happy to picked him up,plus you know me Pat it was a really good price

Hi Pat,
I found a picture in the WBritains Collectors Club magazine The Standard of a Field Marshal from set 201 and his arms and paint look the same to me so I think its a good one its just trying to narrow down the period of manufacture. I will see if I can find any other marks on it that will help clear up the mystery about this figure.
All the best

Hi Pat,
Glad to see you are still awake although its pretty late there. I am glad to get your advice on these issues I too have found that a lot of the books out there seem to have many inaccuracies and make the sorting out a lot more difficult, thats why I prefer to work with original cataloges from the various companies out there which leads me to my next point...
I sent an email to the folks over at Marlborough with a couple of questions about a month ago and received a really great responce from them promising a cataloge and low and behold what appears in my mail box the othere day but a complete color cataloge of their Durbar offerings! Its really nice and has a price list so I now know what it will set me back when I decide to get it straight from them. So this has motivated me even more to get the software fixed so you and Kilted Vampire can view the Durbar cataloge I compiled for WBritains it is looking good for Monday if the guy I need to talk to is in his office.
Anyway I will probably see if can get cataloges from Nicholsons and WHocker also they are just about the best way to get to the bottom of what is what when you are doing research into things like the Durbar because it is such a speciallized field and there arent too many folks making sets for it.
Talk to you later
All the best

Hi Pat,
I have to say that the folks over at Marlborough are really nice also and Brian did the same for me he sent me an email much the same and has answered questions in the past and offered to send a repair part once which I will probably take him up on when I make an order from him which will be this summer. He has a set of soldiers The Nawanger Regiment which is 3 sets of soldiers one at Slope Arms the Colour Party and the 12 piece band which I would really like to add to my already huge display and since I have never seen them anywhere but the cataloge I will probably go ahead and drop the $400 bucks to get them. Unless of course there is a really wild stroke of luck on ebay, but we both know that nearly never happens...
All the best
