Britains Early Hollow Cast (1 Viewer)

Hi Jrsteel,

Where did you find those Scots? They look pretty cool in their trews.

Dave

Dave I got them on e-bay. I'm hoping they're not re-paints. Most of these sets I've seen have yellow vertical stripes and red horizontal stripes.

Here's one of my favorite Britains set from the WW1 glossy range.

That is also one of my favourites from the britains ww 1 range, you can also get a couple of marching scots from the original charles biggs sets that are a great add on to these guys [it was a 4 figure set and 2 are the same poses as these] .

Gentle Friends,

The spirit of the Hocker ad is delightful! I think it correctly portrays the quiet, but insightful, wit and humor of Willam Hocker. I, too, love this ad! And,...I love his toys, figures, and sets! He is an amazing man.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi Guys,

As usual Pat puts it best but I bet I would have a heart attack if my son was playing with the Observation Ballon Set from the Sudan Campaign  but hey its just a toy right?;)

Since this section has evolved into something more than just hollowcast. I thought I would go ahead and post a shot of my 95th Rifles.

Enjoy

All the best

Dave

Hi Jrsteel,

They are from a company called Soldiers of the World which is in New Zealand. Came as a gift from my father in law one year for Christmas. I also have a set of Traditions that are in my wifes stash for a future Christmas or Birthday. I dont know too much about them other than they were limited to 100 sets according to the box. If anyone down under knows this company I would love to see a website or some more info on them.

All the best

Hi Vandilay,

Thanks for the reminder on the link I will save it. I noticed that the link was to a store in NY near the Point. Do you know if they have a webaddress down there where they make them?

Thanks for the help and I look forward to more pictures from you all.

All the best

Dave

Hi Dave
Here is a link to the company that makes them
http://regaltoysoldiers.co.nz/ their is no soldiers of
the world on their website only their own line "regal'
The best bet would probably be the toy soldier gallery
who own the range.

Hi KV,

Do you remember the scene where Belushi is begging for his life from Carrie Fischer in the Blues Brothers?:D :D :D Sometimes it works but the payback can be really brutal...

I dont recommend it for the faint of heart.

All the best

Dave
Yeah, but she had a M-16

Hi KV

Hi Guys,

Here is a figure I picked up recently. Not sure of the company that made it. I says made in England on the belly of the horse and I think its been repainted. The figure comes off the horse. Any ideas of maker?

I have another figure but the camera died so I am recharging the battery probably would be helpful if I did a precombat check of my equipment from time to time.

All the best

Dave

Hi Guys,

Some help with an id for the maker of this figure would be appreciated I think it is Johillco from the post war years. It says made in England on the belly of the hollowcast hores and they are seperate pieces.

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately, I cannot ID your figure, but I may be able to eliminate one possibility. I do not think your figure was produced by JoHillCo for the following reasons:

1) I have some JoHillCo figures in my collection and your figure does not seem to have the typical "JoHillCo" look. The paint detail is too specific and all of the JoHillCo mounted figures I own are single pieces.

2) According to Richard O'Brien's Collecting Foreign Made Toy Soldiers, "Most JoHillCos are marked. The earliest bear the imprint 'J. Hill & Co.,' the majority are inscribed 'JoHillCo' and some can be found that read 'J. Hill' or 'Jo Hill' " All of my figures are marked in the manner described by O'Brien. None are simply inscribed, "Made in England."

3) O'Brien's guide does not list a JoHillCo figure that resembles the one you have posted. O'Brien's guide is not comprehensive, but he lists a great number of JoHillCo's.

Perhaps Leadmen can ID the figure as he is quite good at doing so. I think he will soon be returning to the forum.

In the meantime, I will continue to look through my references to see if I can turn up any hopeful leads.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the help with this one. I will have to some more guides one of these days. I hope to figure it out. I know I have seen a picture of a Wend-Al figure but the horse is slightly different so maybe Leadman or HHughes or Jr Steel will know who its by.

Talk to you soon.

All the best
