Britain's Zulu War (2 Viewers)

Hi britfarmer.

Doesn't appear to be the Osprey series. It's strange that the charging uMbonambi warrior is an "A" figure because they didn't fight at Rorke's Drift so I'm wondering if "A" signifies they are part of an Isandlwana set.

No,
Different Osprey book..there's at least six that I have for the war period. Mike

As regards Osprey books, I have 7 and I don't think this is all they have done. I think a series including the action at Ntombe River, ( March 12, 1879) where Sgt. Booth of the 80th Foot did such wonderful work or Hlobane (March 28, 1879) would make for very unusual and "out of the box" displays. What do you Zulu War collector's think? -- lancer

Lancer,
Only a couple, some LL and QM... How about another Intombe 80th Staffordshire up against the river?

Great snaps Mike, that water still amazes me. :) Those highland cattle better move sharpish though otherwise they will end up in the pot !!!

Glad you noticed the Highland steer! I went on a rampage buying the plastic Britains Highlands after I saw the movie Zulu. I noticed that , in the movie, they all appeared similiar enough, and were all the same color. Iwas going to put them in a kraal after I painted them all. Even have some Texas longhorns mixed in. Point- Natal and Zulu cattle are all different colors in reality... The movie did me wrong:mad::) Mike

These are some of my favorites you've posted 1879 and still waiting to see the LL 17th Lancers on the prowl......The Lt.

Mike thats some nice shots there looks great! Where did those steers come from? I need some for my kraal. OOOO!!! and who makes those back grounds?

The steer are no longer being made, they were from the Britains farm range in the 70's. They do appear on ebay but command a fair price. They were originally made of lead and these to can be found on ebay again at a price usually about $25 each.

Jag,
I think both the backgrounds are JG and in the TF shop for $5ish each. Lt. can confirm. Scott is right on the Britains Highland cattle, but somehow I got plastic instead of the metal, since ya got to have at least 30(0) to fill a kraal.
Mike

These may suffice also, pack of four for about $10. Made by Britains (RC2 Corp) Plastic and they have a semi gloss look to them.

They are easy to repaint also as I have done. A few pics are posted in my profile albums.

Keep in mind guys that I wanted to get cattle just like in the movie... And they're all the same color in the movie, which is incorrect. The breed Nguni is the ancestral lineage of the Zulu cattle, as pictured. A smatering of anything 1:32 or 54mm that you can get your hands on should work! Look at the first photo; Can you see the different regimental shields, including royal white?
