Just received word from Natal that more troops should be arriving for the 19th of January, how coincidental as that is my birthday LOL

How much of a koinqidink that Chelmsford's Central Column is 3days away from disaster? Thats great Scott since the 1st invasion needs more troops!
I'm sure the Lt. would love reinforcements out there on the extended front line!

Conversation overheard at the Drift...................(with thanks to the LT for providing the picture)
Scott,
I'm sure you know that Pip was Lt. Charlie Pope's dog that he left in the care of Surgeon Reynolds upon the invasion. All through the night of the 22nd, during the attack on RD, Pip ran back and forth, barking and warning the defenders of where the Zulus were advancing! Should have had a VVC since his master probably deserved one also. Veterinary Victoria Cross

Hi Mike,
I wasn't aware of that. I had actually seen the frontline version with Pip and also I think a Trophy one posted on here. I tried doing a little Google research but didn;t come up with much. I found accounts of another dog called Lion and didn't see mention of a springer spaniel. I found a pick of a Beagle type dog listed as Pip. My pics way of then LOL as that dog is a Golden Retriever.
Martyn,
Thanks for sharing the info. This particular dog at RD fully deserved this honor, in my opinion. A lot of dogs would have bolted or cowered in a corner.
