Building a Sudan Gunboat (1 Viewer)

Absolutely incredible! Michael you are a master boat builder. You can send me your pics and I can put larger pictures for you.

I strunk these down to fit the forum..I will take photos from scratch and send you the original size, so that you can work some magic..Thanks for the offer. My camera was only meant to be an ebay image maker. That makes it cheap and a discontinued model..Michael

Michel,
Splendid, as I thought it would be from the very beginning! Does it float?:p
Great work!
Mike

Michael,
This is absolutely exceptional !
You are very talented.
Thanks for posting these pictures.
Michel

Excellent, I really like that Michael.

Cheers

Martyn:)

I love it ! Your best work ever! I really think that you are on to something here. I may have to copy your work I do not think it can be improved on !

Outstanding!
I can't get over this piece of artwork.
Are you sure it's not a kit? LOL:D
Is it too top heavy to actually float?
Nick

This is just a small add on comment to my gunboat projects.....At the craft stores, you can buy cloth like printable paper..I then download flags from the internet and print them up both sides..The cloth has a sticky back and I fasten them to poles. They look pretty good and depending on the printer, flags will come out pretty clear..I use this method to make flags for my ships.....I am going to put up updated photos of my ships in my album..Michael

Michael,
Again, so nice of a job! Was wondering who the figures are?
Mike

Dorset main deck gun and crew, Bulldog pom pom and crew, Dorset gatling and crew. Homecast sailors bought from shows to fill in. Men and guns cost more than the actual build of the ship.......Michael

Michael, it's really not that hard. Digital cameras have a menu. In this menu you simply select you want higher quality on your pics (mine are set to excellent). What this means is that there will be more pixels in the image and it will be bigger.

Please, click on my picture:

Is this big enough for you? You could get bigger, depending on how many mega your camera is. Mine is only 2 mega (good enough for toy soldiers) but has a macro lens. Digital cameras do much of the work really, they are so simple to use, even children can get terrific pictures these days. Something completely impossible in the old days, before digital cameras were available.

I hope I could help you.

Cheers...

Michael,
Thanks for confirming Dorset... They aren't cheap but they are the perfect maufacturer (besides Trophy:cool::eek:) for your builds. I feel they are right at home on your HMS DervishDevil!

Do you paint any of your own figures Mike? Dorset sells their casting relatively cheap about $5 a piece. Postage would be the killer though :(

Scott,
I repainted the launch crew of the white boat I have from original to the colors of the HMS Active Brigade, basically the sennet hat and uniform, but not face:p They were 20$ each plus the oars!
Mike

Inspired by Michael (Maddicus) I thought I’d try my hand at making a gunboat. I’ve started but I’m far from finished.

Picture 1: Cutting the plywood

Picture 2: the upper and lower decks
Picture 3: glueing the popcicle deck
Picture 4: excess deck to be trimmed

Thanks Scott

Photo 1 - I've glued on the hull and painted it
Photo 2 - I've stained and varnished the 3 decks
Photo 3 - A bit of a look without the cabins
Photo 4 - A main deck cabin in the making
Photo 5 - The general look it will have

Photos 2 & 3 are later in the sequence

I've got a smoke stack going and have an idea on how to make the stairs but I don't know what to do about the railings for the upper decks. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry the pictures are so small. Sometimes I have trouble posting them.

Anyone: How do you get this to work
Click this bar to view the full image.
In other words how do you start with a small image that you then click on to enlarge?
