Building a Sudan Gunboat (1 Viewer)

The Michaels are at it again!
While Michael does some fab work, Michael displays it in class!

Anyone who is a toy train buff might recognize my steam engine representation. It is a $1.00 plastic replacement part ( Lionel Generator ) with a plumbing elbow glued to the end and some round wood pieces glued to the plain side of the generator. The bend in the elbow will be glued to the upper deck, under the smokestack..The 2 round boilers will be in the stern of the ship..Most of the older gunboats of the Sudan era had exposed boilers and engines and so this will ,also..I might position removable sandbag sections to protect this area, but I have not made that call...Michael

These pictures will show how I build my ships to be taken apart. Note the grommet ends glued to the hull, so that the posts of the sections can be inserted for proper fit..Michael

Finally, mostly done, except for add on chain details, etc. Do not ask me for larger photos...blame the resize limits of the forum...Michael

Thats is the bomb Michael. If I didn't know any better, there is no way I would have ever thought that was just made from just bits and bobs. Fantastic job mate I bet you are really pleased with that one.

Brilliant Michael!

That's a true masterpiece. Well done on creating such a nice looking gunboat, and I appreciate you taking the time to post the progress.

Simon

That's crazy! Wow wee! Fantastic job maddad.
The only question I have is where did you get the engine?
Nick

Lionel O guage generator ( replacement part ) with a plumbing elbow glued to the front. I added some wood add on details..Michael

Wow, Mike! Absolutely fantastic! You should have brought it to the Show, then there would have been a real competition :)

Just a really, really, incredible job! I like how you applied "creative gizmology" to make the engine. And with the guns and the crew in place, it just looks fantastic. Congratulations on a great, great job!

Prost!
Brad

Michael, I just saw this thread, from beginning to end, today. Wow!

I'm so impressed. I love the way we got to see the steps from beginning to end.

Thanks.

Absolutely incredible! Michael you are a master boat builder. You can send me your pics and I can put larger pictures for you.
