What a fantastic set! What can you tell us about the manufacturer?

You guys know as much as I do. I have been told it is rare as hens teeth, but past that, I only have the set and small write up it came with. I am assuming very little were made and it is limited.

Only set i have ever seen from CP.

Hi guys,

The Aussie sculptor behind CP Miniatures was a Melbourne based fellow who made a limited number of WWII Aussie & Jap sets (Kokoda), plus a few Australiana themed sets, namely Miners and Police from the 1850's Goldrush era and some Aussie Colonial Volunteer Units from about 1870-1900, plus a beautiful set of Life Savers who patrol our beautiful but dangerous Aussie beaches.

The range looked very promising and received one very positive review in a very early edition of Toy Soldier & Model Figure Magazine about 9-10 years ago, possibly in one of the first five issues???

The little business ended as quickly as it started after the sculptor was involved a very serious accident which involved the poor fellow falling from a building or similar and smashing both his wrists. Sadly, he was unable to sculpt or paint as a result and the business and range all but vanished.

The scupltors name escapes me but CP were his initials (as are mine incidently??? :))

The set you have is indeed extremely rare, as are all CP Miniatures, and I know a few Aussies who'd pay big bucks for it!

I have a couple of single figures in my personal collection but have had no luck whatsoever finding any of the sets he made.

Hope this helps.

Best regards from OZ.

Craig,
thanks for the info, I knew it was a rarity. I think I also have a prospector set I will post pics of. When you mentioned miners, I think I have one of those, will dig it out.

I wish i had the life savers, that sounds interesting!

I got these in a lot with a Pearce Miniature set too. I missed buying a Pearce set earlier this year that had a Water Barrell set, it looked cool. Was that by chance an inspiration for your latest set?

Thanks again,
Tom

Hi Tom,

The WWI water cart set is called a "Furphy" and they were used during Australia's campaigns in the Middle East as a mobile water supply for the troops.

The original Furphy was produced by Pearce Miniatures of Australia who are sadly no more after the tragic death of their owner and sculptor Rick Pearce who died of cancer a couple of years ago aged 44.

Rick was a champion bloke and a great friend.

We are producing the Furphy again with the permission and blessing of Ricks father Doug as a tribute to Ricks beautiful work.

Yell out if you want a catalogue mate and I'll send you one airmail express. They are fully illustrated in colour and FREE of charge inclusive of postage worldwide.

The Furphy's are available painted (MATT or GLOSS) or as unpainted kits.

Cheers,
