I had bought this WWI scottish figure from Portobello mkt. The pipes are missing and the right hand is slightly awkward. I'm just comparing it to another earlier piper which I had converted as well.
I took apart this WWI piper, removing the two hands. The left hand with pipes was trimmed and refitted to the front of the body.
The right hand was actually a left hand, cut and adapted to act as a right hand. This right hand was bent to fit under the left hand. A small nail was fitted to the right hand.
If y scrolled backwards to an earlier post, you might notice a 5th lancer bass horn player in the background. This was an original sculpted and homecast piece that I had made many years ago. I have placed it on a wooden base to stabilise the piece. I have decided to also improve on this figure. Hence, the piece is being cleaned up of its mould lines and I am adding putty here and there.
I found two gladiatorial figures and decided to pair them up on a suitable round base. The sword is missing and I'll see what I can do about straightening the trident.
Looking at my puny 1/35 Dragon German soldier, I've decided to upscale him and arm the figure with 1/32 Airfix ordnance. Hence he is now a young Hitler Jugend figure. The picture shows the difference in size between 1/35 and 1/32. I'll also substitute an Airfix helmet for this figure.
The picture of an MG42 is attached for ref. It looks like the Dragon model gun is of better proportions than the Airfix model. So I will modify the Airfix gun.
As can be seen on my other threads, busy busy. I painted the titles for these figure bases to get back into a painting mode. I'll probably repaint the English Longbowman as well later.
More figure bases painted. Got to retouch Victor Hugo's coat. The German Arquebusier was painted many years ago and I've only just painted the base title now. May retuch the painting later.
