Cafe Storme Mokarex figures (2 Viewers)

I wasn't satisfied with the pose of Leopold I. The face and head is OK to me. So I've carved away bits and pieces here and there.

Now painting the stripes along the breeches. One has to be patient to wait for the oils to dry.

Here is a minor paint touchup of the Roman Cavalry Officer. EK casting.

I also painted this figure with my current fav colour purpura!
I reasoned that a rich city state like Venice, Genoa or Milan would have dressed their militia in these luxurious fabrics.

I'm combining these two gladiators on a round base representing the arena.

I coated the base with fine sand over the cork surface. This represents the sand sprinkled over the arena to soak up the blood.

Pzinted the two African colonial figures to this stage. I will have to find a replacement scabbard for the officer.

Finally painted the African Tirallier. Still have to label him. He has an Adrian helmet slung on his left hip and is already wearing a khaki overcoat. So I date this piece to about 1915.
The blue uniform is painted with French Ultramarine. I rarely use this colour as it is very translucent. the oil colour was painted over a basic humbrol blue.
