Cafe Storme Mokarex figures (1 Viewer)

You, Sir, are an outstanding figure painter.
Absolutely wonderful!

Beautiful, brilliant, vibrant colors!!!

I have 8 or 10 of those French WW 1 Generals, should you ever need any.

Hi NEVINSRIP,

Thank you for your very kind comments, wholly undeserved on my part. I am still learning my craft and enjoying the hobby.

Here's the artist Peter Paul Reubens. He was missing the easel stand so I fabricated one for this piece.

Hi Mirof,

Thanks. I saw a pic of the original figure with tip on the Cafe Storme Mokarex website and will replicate that. The sheepskin will be creamy.

Got this piece some time ago. I had rebased it on a wooden base along with the other figures for practise painting.

This figure was based on a painting by Francois Gerard which also included another figure in a turban. As this is not a great casting (probably pirated), I decided not to add another figure but instead tried to improve on this figure.

The legs which were too spindly were bulked out. You can see the sabretache and sword casting being lifted away from the left leg to do this.

The right side of the face and hair were also resculpted as it was distorted. The colpack was wrongly attached as the aiguillettes were hanging to the side. I will removed the colpack and reglue it after painting the rest of the figure with the aiguillettes hanging down correctly.

I decided to add some embroidered details to Philip the Bold's coat. After all, this is a painting exercise. Here's the outline of a criss cross pattern.

I ve processed yet another batch of figures for painting by sticking them to wooden bases.

Victor,

again,Ii have painted a figure of Murat in the same pose, but this one is a recast from Russia, I think the original is Pegaso ???

Murat.jpg

The collector I did it for wanted gloss .... i would have done him in matte.

Hi John,

I checked - it was EMI, now OOP. The recast is distorted, hence my attempts to improve it.

I have a love-hate relationship with the Russian made figures. Cheap, convenient and surprisingly good sculpted figures here and there but sometimes, rather too stocky or not quite right. Because they are sold as cheap single pieces, all of the added accoutrements are not so well produced. I buy the original pieces nowadays and am blown away by the sheer detail and finesse of the models, and the prices!!! Sometimes, it best to stick with Historex....
