now that would be one release I wouldn't forgive myself for missing:D i can handle missing an 88 but a JS-2:eek:

Yes, of course they could sell 100 JS-2 tanks - but it would take several years.

Rumour has it they were going to make one but decided not to when a second rumour surfaced that K&C already had one planned.  :D:D Too bad :D:D:D

Terry

well i hope at least one of them makes it:)

I was poking fun at someone. :) I know Andy said some time ago he was not going to make Russian armour as it didn't sell well. But on his Australian tour, a false rumour got started that K&C were going to make one. As for Figarti making one, I have no idea, but they haven't made any eastern front stuff yet, so I would not expect it. But I agree with you, I hope one or both of them make some Russian armour.

Andy and Rick both know that Russian stuff doesn't sell, so don't hold your breath guys ;) :D

Well don't misunderstand the poll...it's not about Figarti starting a Berlin line, it's just about Figarti supplementing K&C's line (which is now in homes) with one or two quality overlooked pieces that can make money for them. I'd like a JS2, but I wouldn't cry if it was a JSU122/152 or 203mm howitzer

Perhaps you should have mentioned this in your initial post introducing this poll. In any case it's clear that Figarti have their own agenda for model production which doesn't appear to include blending with existing K & C products despite being the same scale.

Really? I haven't been following the company for long, but just taking a recent snapshot of their products, they do seem to supplement K&C very well...the Lee for U.S. Tunisia, DAK PzIV, Winter PzIV for Bulge (& now 88 Flak), Firefly & new Brits which could go with Arnhem. Sounds like a good plan to me! :)

Why would Figarti build models of Russian armoured vehicles with relatively low popularity for a K & C range that was retired due to lack of collector interest

Because Figrati makes 100 pieces & not 1000...that's my only reasoning. The worst selling piece to my knowledge was the little towed pop gun...which even was last on my list too. It wasn't very inspiring. The K&C range really didn't have a heavy Russian bunker buster piece which imo is really the central theme to the overrun of the Reich. The T-34 was cute, but it didn't portray the futility of continued Nazi resistance.

I figure if they made a Lee for testing the market, they might want to consider a Berlin add on too. The Lee is way more risky imo...Americans really don't feel the need to be reminded of their Army's bloodletting in Tunisia. Kind of like Isandlwana ranges vs. Rorke's Drift. A blown up Lee would have made more sense so the Tunisian Tiger could be put next to it.

I don't mean to overdo this, but I'm 45 now, & have never heard an average American, veteran of any war (with one exception), wargamer, hobbyist, etc. express any knowledge or interest of our involvement in Tunisia. The only exception was an old guy I worked with who was actually a veteran of the campaign. All the WW2 vets I knew that went in the Army after North Africa never even knew we were there.
The U.S. Army is pretty good at cloaking their defeats. Had a reporter not written a best selling book, I doubt if many of us would have ever known about what happened in Mogadishu 15 years ago...now it's their best recruiting tool.

Blowtorch is correct , 100 pieces would disappear, there's been a glut of british and american armour in the last few months...russian piece would be a welcome change ..:) and they are a few pretty cool looking models to chose from as well

If Figarti came out with a JS2 or SU85, there would only be 99 pieces available for you guys. :)

I appreciate the significance of the lower production numbers. However Russian based products remain relatively unpopular and limited to Eastern Front displays. In the current economic climate I feel the wise move would be to keep with the more popular subjects such as German Winter based items that can be used in Eastern Front and Western Front (Bulge etc) displays (divisional insignia aside).

Furthermore, it's widely known that the K & C T34/85 was not a big seller despite being the most popular (arguably) Russian tank. This does not auger well for sales of the more obscure Russian ARV's that some of you have mentioned.

Again, you could argue that such items would be more attractive to collectors in limited numbers. However (imo) they would take some time to sell out, so why should a company take such a risk in these times given the reliable alternatives that sellout before they even hit the stores.

i tend to agree.
figarti's quality armour at low volume releases, and fair pricing, is bound to be snapped up. i can only imagine if Figarti releases a german big favourite like the panther, tiger (1/30), jagdtiger, jagdpanther or the king tiger!

if this happens there will be an absolute hysteria i will imagine.
afterall, the figarti winter 88 lasted around 36 hours before being sold out.
it was so fast that many people, (especially from a different time zone), totally missed the whole thing.
i can imagine a fast sales if the rare soviet pieces came to fruition, and an absolute mad dash for the big german toys. :)

seeing figarti's track record of doing things, i won't be shocked if they produce both! :p

The problem is Nasir that it was a war of racial extermination and that makes some collectors uncomfortable with the theme.

i get you damian.

and you are absolutely right, as previous threads in this forum bear witness.

my humble point of view is that i think there is such a thing as overt political correctness. i felt if anybody wants to collect any ranges its their own accord.

eastern front, SS troops, SS Einsatzgruppen, shirtless italians, etc., who am i to say its wrong? everyone has their own taste.

for the record, i think WW2 imperial japanese troops and especially hirohito are the scum of the earth, but i certainly do not impose my beliefs and uncomfort to discourage others from the excellent (aesthetically) wake island figures.

i can certainly make a difference between the real thing and miniature figures.

just my thoughts.
