I've been wanting to 'rough out' a Crusaders dio for quite a while and finally am able to take a little time to start. It's JG castle components (love the FL castle set, but I'd already bought these), combined with both FL and KC Crusader/Saracen lines. Special thanks to Michel @ Forlorn Hope Soldiers in Belgium, who helped me locate that awesome Teutonic Knight figure, as I'd missed it during its release (GREAT figure). Now I need to locate a good (large) background and do some work on the base itself. I'm going to try to build a battering ram to breach the gates-but that's going to take a lot of time and patience (not my strong suit-lol).

Mike, not a range I collect but thoroughly enjoyed viewing your impressive collection. The castle is quite a sight and the figs are well detailed and painted. Congrats on a very eye catching display. Chris

Thanks Fellas, I really like this line from both makers and look forward to future releases.

"Very nicely done Mike . . . . God Wills It"

LOL, thanks much Mike, 'Kingdom of Heaven' was a GREAT movie and really blew me away when I recently got to see it in Blu-Ray.

Very nicely done.....
It would be great to see FL produce some siege engines and crews for this era.

Looks good Mike. Everytime I see a Crusader diorama I get tempted to dive into the Crusades. Problem is I'm aleady collecting to many lines as it is. Maybe I'll just try to p/u the mounted figures:rolleyes2:

Hi Mike,

Very impressive display !
Your close-up pictures are so good that I notice details I hadn't seen when looking directly at the figures.

Again, well done!!

Michel

That's awesome Mike! I love JG's ancient city walls. They look fantastic w/ your FL and K & C collection. I think JG's ancient city walls are a little larger in scale then some of his past structures, which really works nice w/ FL & K&C Crusaders/Saracens/Mamluks. I have some of his older creations like the Roman gatehouse and a few walls. They were made for slightly smaller figures, but I've found that they work pretty well w/ FL's Romans and barbarians. The ancient city walls definitely look to be scaled larger and matches your figures quite nicely. Thanks for sharing pics of your fantastic dio!

A awesome looking castle as well as some great battle scenes, very well done...Sammy

Nice dio, Mike! I think the King & Country and First Legion figures blend together very well. You have a very nice compliment of First Legion figures. I look forward to seeing how your diorama develops when you put it on the base and add a background. Are you aware that Conte produced a really nice 54mm battering ram several years back. I actually had one for a while, but later sold it, due to its foot-long size. You may be able to find one on ebay, etc., if you're interested. I expect Firts Legion will be coming out with some siege engines in the fairly near future. I also expect they will be stunning. It's a great time to be collectimg 54mm Crusders!

Guys, thanks to you all for your kind words. Here's a few more pics...I really like the detail that FL 'brings to the party' on all lines. Those dang Romans keep tempting me {sm2}.

Great dio, Mike, so much action, many details, a fight on high structure....It s a pleasure to watch it..

Mike Iam Blasting some Metallica tunes and really enjoying these pic's. I love seeing collecter's
share their awsome stuff and your FL crusader layout is KILLER!!! {bravo}}

Neil :salute::

This is still one of my favorite lines from FL. I think the sculpture and paint job on the crusader line figures is just outstanding.

Thanks again guys-my biggest challenge is the overall SIZE of this thing. It's currently sitting on a 4ft.x4ft. sheet of foam on my hobby table-and I've not even included the front gate yet {sm2}...Somehow, we'll make it work. I've included a couple of 'backed off' shots to show the size of this layout-may need to go to a bigger base...(and another siege tower)
Regards the battering ram, I've been looking on-line and don't see anyone offering the Conte one that was mentioned, so I fear I'm going to get to build it myself.
-Does anyone remember who the maker/seller of those wood seige engines (they didn't have a ram, but had other nice pieces)? They used to be on eBay, but I can't locate 'em anymore.
-Andanna, if you want more pics of FL & KC figures together, feel free to PM me and I'll send you some.
