Cataloging Trophy Boxers (1 Viewer)

Thanks Martyn. I believe the only Indian Army set in the Boxer series is the artillery set. Tommy

Hi Tommy

There were Indian Army sets in the Boxer series apart from the Artillery set. This quote is from a 1991 catalogue:

"Set#'s B15,B16 and B16A are the 1st Sikh INFANTRY REGIMENT (Punjab Frontier Force) together with the 7th Rajputs. They were the first British contingent to enter Peking"

Unfortunately there are no pictures to accompany the text

Cheers

Martyn:)

Hi Lawrence. Sorry I missed this post and photo. Mine are part of the artillery set and have grey bases, khaki uniforms with red turbans. Tommy

Hi Martyn: Those are really nice and rare sets. Thanks for sharing them with us. Tommy

Hi Lawrence

Looks like they are set# NWF5 - THE CORPS OF GUIDES - THE FIRING LINE

They were issued in the THE NORTH WEST FRONTIER series. In the catalogue description it states "Immortalized by their defence of the Residency at Kabul in 1879" hence the grey bases

Cheers

Martyn:)

Hi Tommy

I think that is the tassel end of the Turban wrap and not a badge, at least that's what they look like on the sets I have

Cheers

Martyn:)

Martyn,
Thanks for the info, but am curious why the bases would be painted gray as I thought the gray base was only used for the Boxer series. I did see the flagbearer you posted on the NWF had a gray base as well. I always thought the NWF had green bases. Also, do you know if the uniforms of the Corps of Guides the same as the ones I posted? Guess this will give you an excuse to talk to your "Dad" ^&grin Thanks again and look forward to hearing what you find out. By the way, nice photos of the Indian sets you have ^&cool Lawrence

Hi Lawrence

I don't think that you can take the colour of the bases for each series as certain. I have had a couple of Dervish sets that had green bases{eek3}, some Boer War sets have brown and some green bases

Check out this set

SET#EQ47

NORTH WEST FRONTIER

INDIAN ARTILLERY GUN BATTERY

They have grey bases

I've got a Corps of Guides Mounted Officer and the base is grey

Purchased these at Valley Forge. Box marked the set as Dragon Crest 8/A. Seller said they were Tientsin Volunteers.

great find, they sure do look like them as they wore red shirts

Surely they do not surface too often ....

Nice set to find Lawrence. I have never seen it before. Tommy

Thanks everyone. Very happy to find the set and be able to share photo of it. Still missing a few of the Indian Regiments and the Chinese Artillery set. If anyone has photos, please add them to the thread. Thanks. Lawrence

Larry,

I have an Indian artillery set and BS 21 (which I picked up in Valley Forge). Do you want me to post photos of those?

Brad
