How do you think the arrival of the cheaper hurricane will affect the value and demand for much higher priced warbirds?

Remains to be seen, possible it won't have any effect on them as they are popular, but time will tell.Welcome to the forum!:)

I don't think it will have any impact. There are so few Warbirds and they were so expensive, only dedicated well off collectors could get them. And they are wood, not polystone and are collectors items. You don't see many being sold on e-bay and only dedicated well off collectors would buy them now on resale.

The new plane is very well done from the photo, but I don't think an upscale collector would buy the polystone version only instead of the original. Probably would get both - not to mention any names. :)

I'd rather track down the 1/32 scale WWI aircraft by 21st Century Toys and other manufacturers, personally. They're actually better detailed models, in my opinion.

Prost!

I look at the wooden Warbirds as one of a kind works of art & the new polystone version as a limited lithograph from a well known artist both of which are extremely desirable from my field of view! I am highly impressed with the new K&C RAF line. Mission accomplished Team K&C!

Bravo!!!

I don't think it will have any effect whatsoever. I think most people who buy the wooden warbirds will probably not purchase the polystone warbirds.

I'm not sure you can say that until you've actually done a side by side comparison

It would be good to compare them with the Corgi Metal 1:32 planes which are actually quite good value for money.

I don't think it will have any effect at all either. They are quite different products for very different markets. I don't think K&C would do these new ones if Corgi had continued their 1/32 line or if Hobby Master ever ramped theirs up.

I believe it may increase the value of the Wooden Aircraft should any become available. I say this because the new aircraft may introduce more collectors to the War Birds which may create more interest and demand for even one wooden item to add to someone's collection.

It is interesting to note that the first series of polystone war birds did not sell well, yet today command quite a premium. Something for everyone!:D

I have both original Polystone planes and think they are quite good, I really like them both, the pilots that came with them are cool too!

I also have a Wooden Storch that was made in the Phillipines (not a K&C one), but a similar type make, the difference is cockpit glass. I like this plane too.

The K&C Wooden Warbirds are too rich for my blood, but they are very very nice.

Figarti has done some nice planes also as well as the 1/32 Corgi.

Point is, there is something for everyone and for every wallet, you just have to decide which is for you. Would it be cool to own a plane where only 3 were made, sure, but that comes with a cost!

I think the K&C airplanes will sell. I have pre ordered one from Treefrog.

I was in England in July. I was able to attend the RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo) and talked to representatives from Airfix/Corgi.........they told me that Corgi will reintroduce the 1/32 scale planes soon. The Battle of Britain Memorial flyover at the show included a Hurricane, Spitfire, and a Lancaster. Corgi is working on something to commemorate the Battle of Britain. I hope this info was true and I guess time will tell.

According to dealers I talked to they couldn't give away those polystone warbirds. It could be that it wasn't part of an overall them: pilots, groundcrew, airfield, etc. At least that's what Andy and Louis thought a few years back.

This is truly great to see all the excitement over these planes:)

No doubt about it,the marriage of the planes and figures is what is really going to bring this series to life. The Hurricane looks excellent and the figures give real depth to any scene involving it.I like the way Andy has launched the series with a large first wave(as he did with the recent D Day Brits),i like a busy airfield scene and all these figures are perfect for that.

As Brad said the polystone planes the first time round did not move fast or nearly at all.

This time though you have the add ons and the range. I can see (and some have already) collectors ordering the plane and the figures.

Also times have changed and maybe Andy was too before his time when he did polystone before.

I championed the polystone warbird with Andy for years since i have worked with K&C UK full time and i will keep on now for a range as they are awesome and the time is right. There is a larger market of K&C collectors and there is a greater appreciation for what K&C does for the Hobby...........trend setter!

Good to have you championing this range Tony, the mind boggles at what we may see for this range over the coming years.K&C has indeed been a trend setter in the hobby, long may it continue.

I also collect diecast plane models and I have all the 1/32 Corgi's and 1/35 P51 and P40 by GMP.I hope that the new cheaper K&C aircraft models will be a succes but I have my doubts. Big planes are heavy, need big boxes; the Corgi Mosquito came in a box the size of a large Samsonite suitcase;and are very expensive to ship (S&H fees).I believe that for these very reasons GMP and Corgi decided to drop them.

They do take up room; of that there is no doubt. However, the shipping is not extraordinary although it will cost a little more. I'm not sure the Mossy is a good example as that is a very big plane. The boxes for the old poly planes were obviously larger but not extremely.
