Chicago 2018 (2 Viewers)

Hi all

Well, I have finally gotten around to posting some pic's of the Chicago show. I'm currently in Thomasville, Georgia with my good mate Duke on the forum (WW2 Buff) I had a great time and met a lot of new friends as well as caught up with my old friends that I met last year at the San Antonio show. Here's some pic's from the event, the first 4 are from the K&C room and the other pic is from the TF room.

The next lot of pic's are from Michael Sreckov's room which is called Warring Warbirds. He has some awesome looking aircraft and the dio in his room was brilliant!

Last lot of pic's including Brian Levy from Collector Showcase, the Chinese chaps from Figarti and Ken Olsen from William Britain's. I had a long chat with Ken and he has confirmed the German 88 gun is coming and he expects it to be released by April next year. The previously announced German figures will also be released before April next year. Ken is a great bloke and I enjoyed chatting with him. He gave me some great tips in building dioramas.

Thank you for sharing these photos. I enjoyed them alot.

I was at the show and really focused on looking rather than photographing so my apologies for no photos to post. Probably the most fun was seeing some old friends and making some new ones as well. It's always nice to put a face with a name. One of the old friends (not literally Andy!) catching up with was Andy. Good to see him again after several years since I've been to a show down in San Antonio. I enjoyed my first Chicago show experience.

G'day Duke,
Greetings from San Antonio and great to meet up with you at the 'Chicago Show'...I'm only sorry we did not get longer to talk!

Chicago was a blast as usual with lots of old friends and K&C collectors to meet as well as taking part in the Friday Night Soirée courtesy of Treefrog, Sierra and Troops of Time....What a terrific night! The food was good, the company of collectors great and the guest speaker...Well, let's just say he was... adequate.

Personally speaking, I picked up some excellent 'parade' figures from Patrick of The British Toy Soldier Company and more from Matt of Hobby Bunker...including some old K&C British Guardsmen and Royal Marines which I don't have in my own collection!!!

Also, a few very good 'Vietnam' display pieces from Scott & Sandi Schley which will prove very useful.

Attending a fantastic Toy Soldier Show like Chicago is a wonderful experience that every serious collector should go to at least once...The scope and variety of what's available is simply staggering...Plus all the fun and friends you meet and make is a joy to behold and to be a small part of it is a large part of what makes this hobby so enjoyable.

Best personal best wishes and...Happy Collecting!!!
Andy.

Tom, thanks for the pictures! They are a joy to see for all those who couldn’t be there.
Btw, do you know who sells that carrier deck shown in some of your pictures?

Thanks Robin and yeah, I am enjoying my US trip. Duke and his family's hospitality is outstanding and I enjoyed the show, meeting new and old collectors and also seeing some of Chicago itself. I'm past being tempted on the Figarti King Tiger and have put an order in for the 008 numbered version.

Thank you for sharing these photos. I enjoyed them alot.

Your welcome mate.

Your welcome mate and sorry, but I didn't ask about that carrier section. I assumed it was built for the show or perhaps as a one off but I didn't see a price tag. Perhaps another forum member that attended the show can shed some light on it??

Tom

Thanks for the pictures Tom.Enjoyed our visit at the dinner on Friday night.Glad you are enjoying your time in the states!!!

I forget who did the carrier deck. I’m pretty sure Tom Dubel knows him and maybe will chime in. I believe it was in the ballpark of $1400

Pat Gallagher! I don't remember the price but Pat builds some very nice dios.

Aussie Tom - truly a pleasure to meet you, looks like you are enjoying your time in the States!

As always, the show was a load of fun catching up with old friends Steven Chong, Louis B. Hans H. John B., Zach L. etc. etc. etc. and meeting many new ones!
