Hey guys:

Below are the first ACW prototype sets from this new alliance announced today. Any one interested? What do you guys think?

They look like St. Petersburg figures. What's the purpose of the alliance?

They look great but I don't collect ACW anymore.

Looks fabulous Carlos. I'm sure ACW collectors will be happy.

What is the alliance exactly? What is each side contributing?

To combat FL maybe.Maybe Aeroart is losing business to them and this is a way to get back some of the business.

This is a most interesting attempt of providing first class figures/miniatures at his time.
It will be interesting to find out about prices, quantities and depth (how many different troops, officers, accessories for the picked subject, the ACW)?
Will the shown figures be distributed a hundred per issue or more?
Very nice job and very impressive! Congratulations, Figarti!

All of these figures have been released by AeroArt already. The only difference would be the bases. The only ones I don't have are the cannon set and that version of Chamberlain. They are nice figures and are almost impossible to find. The Chamberlain figure is my personal "Holy Grail" I would love to get my hands on it. They are a must buy if they are released again.

Now that's a heck of an alliance! This could be very interesting. A positive plus a positive equals a positive. Great looking figures, byw. How about a nice debut range from said alliance featuring WWI?
That might be the perfect jumping off point.

Dear Collectors,

The Aeroart/Figarti partnership is something that has been in discussion for over a year. Remember at one point I coded the project as Project "MP", which stood for Marco Polo.

Basically, the alliance or rather partnership is all about figures sculpted in Russia but manufactured in China. It is an honor to work with Aeroart and I think this is a win win win for everyone in the industry. Aeroart benefits by working with a trustworthy partner that can help with lowering manufacturing cost and produce high quality products. Figarti benefits from extending itself into other eras as well as having the opportunity to learn from the best in sculpting and painting. Collectors benefit because now you can buy top quality products at a reasonable price. The Marco Polo line is completely separate from Figarti and will be a line that Aeroart will take the lead in. As for pricing, it will be Aeroart's decision but I have been told it will be reasonable and competitive.

The initial launch will be a civil war cannon set. (Shown here at the Chicago show are prototypes). But Aeroart has tremendous resources in sculpts and subject matter, so Marco Polo has the ability to enter any era.

We look forward to this partnership.

This should be a fantastic endeavor, Rick. It's nice to finally find out what the MP Project is all about. When you mentioned it at the Westcoaster, Kurt and I were very intrigued to say the least. I guess I should have read between the lines, because, if my memory serves me well, you said that you were aiming for more of a "connoisseur level" of painting for certain releases down the road, and you even showed early examples of such w/ stunning Eastern stage performer prototypes. A few times I even saw inquiries as to the nature of the MP project appear here on the forum. Well, it's great to hear of the formation of such an alliance. I'm certainly looking forward to the yield that will certainly flow. Good luck on what is sure to be a winning proposition for all. Whatever subject matter is decided upon, I'm hoping for "fully developed" ranges, along the lines of the Figarti model in that respect. Thanks again for the info and for all you have done for this tremendously enjoyable hobby.

I am a collector of the Aeroart/St. Petersburg ACW figures and most of these figures are previously done by Aeroart with Russian painters, so its Aeroart's ACW castings painted by Figarti to more of a Russian painting style since the figures are not as weathered as normal Figarti figures.:)

Very Nice. What was the give away figure from Figarti?

This Russian inspired type of model figure is my favorite type of model figure (I also love glossy toy soldiers by the way, how about that for trouble...:D, )and I guess Aeroart is being forced by First Legion to compete in a different way. FL has shown the way to broaden the appeal of connoisseur inspired figures and now others are following... I for one will follow these future releases very closely, I am a fan of both Aeroart and FL's figures (not that much of Figarti's I am afraid) so as a consumer I expect this competition to bear fine fruits...;).
Thanks a lot for posting these great photos and great news...

Cheers and all the best for this new line,
Paulo

This seems to me a contractual arrangement where Aeroart benefits by having its products made at a more affordable price, thereby allowing Aeroart to compete in certain areas with FL, and Figarti to generate additional income and use capacity in its factory.

This seems to me akin to a toll manufacturing arrangement where a retailer may give a certain ingredient (such as an active pharmaceutical ingredient in the pharma world) to a manufacturer who supplies all the other ingredients and tolls or converts the ingredient and the other materials into a finished product. In the case of a retailer, it is more economical and frees up capacity.

My apologies to Figarti and Aeroart if I have come to an incorrect conclusion.

Congratulations to both Figarti and Aeroart for joining together in a strategic alliance to present the Marco Polo Collection.

I think it is a brilliant move to meet the current challenges in the toy soldier industry and move forward into the future.

I think nobody will care too much about the ins and outs about this collaboration and who profs more or less just that it will bring better figures to the collectors in the hobby. Thats the real issue here

Really like this ACW Gun and crew, Rick, would this be the first of an ACW series or just a one off?.

Cheers

Rob

Rob and Guys,

The ACW is NOT a one off but the start of a continuing line. But that said, MP product launches depends on Aeroart and what they have planned and from my discussion with Thor, we have some GREAT products coming from various eras. But don't expect a flood of MP products into the market, this alliance is a long term based partnership with great looking products at affordable prices. Aeroart brings tremendous resources on sculpts so expect MP to offer exciting products.

The hobby just keeps getting better. The quality of figures, vehicles and all the diorama items is so much better then even 5 years ago. What's it going to be like 10 years from now.The young people of today don't know what their missing.
