Chicago Show inquiry (2 Viewers)

Always nice to see new attendees at OTSN; I love to hear how blown away they are by the whole thing, it never gets old hearing it.

As much as you think you have an idea of what it will be like, it still is overwhelming, glad you are coming.............

I'd love to be there for the Friday Figarti lunch and K&C dinner but it is just too far for me to drive from Toronto on Thursday and back on Saturday.

I will also be going for my first time. I am really looking forward to meeting other Treefroggers and so would like to attend the Treefrog meal. How does it work?

How do you recognize one another - Treefrog name tags?

Also, I'll be leaving early because I'm making this a "we're visiting the USA holiday." So I hope all the information comes out before I've left home.

It will be fun seeing you all. :)

Last year the Treefroggers had pins given out by Treefrog.

Pins are good :). Do we get them at the show? I met Brad (jazzeum) at the Hackensack Show and it was nice to meet the person behind the avatar. I'd like to meet others.

Now don't tell my wife about the suggested $1000 "cover charge." :D

Every year this comes up about TF,s wearing some sort of identification. But I always seem to locate everyone just by stopping in the various rooms.
Hang around Tf,s, K&C,s or Georges rooms and attend the 2 luncheons and you will meet pretty much everybody.

We'll have the pins in our room for room trading...feel free to swing on by to show that Treefrog pride!

I always find it amusing when a Treefrogger is talking to a dealer about my repaints and then the dealer points at me and says "That's him standing next you." Name tags would be great but noboby wants to wear them.

I won a Treefrog T-Shirt in the room raffle at last year's show, I won a K&C UK shirt a while back, K&C has given me a denim shirt, and Steven Chong gave me an old K&C T-Shirt from 1995, so I will be wearing identifiable shirts while walking the halls throughout the room trading.

What about Chicago it self, any one knows some good places land marks (not related to Toysoldiers, or military museums) that we should visit? I will bring my wife so; I don’t think that she will want to be in a Hotel for 4 days looking at miniatures soldiers….

ps. Looking for old Chicago places, something related to the 1920's Alcapone style...

Well, you have the untouchables tours:

Al Capone is buried in Mt Olive cemetary on Chicagos far south side.

You have Rosehill and Graceland Cemetaries lots of historic and famous people buried in them.

We have two Museums an Art Institute, an Aquarium and a planetarium, plus some of the finest restaurants and great blues clubs, plenty to do plenty to see, the problems are usually time and money.

I can just about guarantee you won't want to leave the Hyatt for your stay. Your wife may, but you won,t.

Looks like the plan is to drive from Toronto through Port Huron to Chigago. Would drive on Thursday to arrive Thursday late afternoon. Not looking forward to the 9+ hour drive, but the cheapest flights and fares to and from airports add $500 over the cost of driving.

The main reason I am going is to meet a few people and attend the Figarti lunch and K&C dinner. I do not know how long I will stay Saturday/Sunday. Probably will stay in the same hotel as the show.

Did you book your room yet? Tell them you're there for the Soldier Show.

We encouraged Louis to put a big Treefrog tattoo on his chest...every time I see him, I wonder if it's there...(only his wife knows for sure...);)

All at the same time? That should be interesting:rolleyes:

What time has the Friday evening event typically started in past years?
