Chicago Show inquiry (2 Viewers)

What about Chicago it self, any one knows some good places land marks (not related to Toysoldiers, or military museums) that we should visit? I will bring my wife so; I don’t think that she will want to be in a Hotel for 4 days looking at miniatures soldiers….

ps. Looking for old Chicago places, something related to the 1920's Alcapone style...

Rod.

They have a German sub in the Museum of Science and Industry.

Rod,

There are several places on interest to see in Chicago (in the city, not the burbs)! I'd suggest the following as possibilities (depends on what you and your wife like to do):

1. View of the city from either the John Hancock Observatory or the Sears Tower (I refuse to call it the Willis Tower).

2. Water Tower Place for shopping

3. State Street and Michigan Ave. for shopping in general

4. Millenium Park (on Michigan Ave. near the Art Institute of Chicago)

5.The Art Institute of Chicago Museum

6. Shedd Aquarium

7. Field Museum of Natural History

8. Museum of Science and Industry

9. Navy Pier (mainly souvenir shops and restaurants.. good views of the lake, etc) and surprisingly, a Stained Glass Museum (free)

10. Boat tour of the city / lake front (http://www.shorelinesightseeing.com)

The restaurants are endless.... for Chicago Style Pizza I'd suggest:

Gino East, Lou Malnatti's or Giordanos

The Italian Village touts itself as being the oldest Italian restaurant in the city - it's very good...

I hope this is of some help... Most, if not all, of the places I've mentioned have websites - so I would just search and see what looks interesting to you and your wife...

Let me know if you have any specific questions.. I know there are several other member that also live in the Chicago area.. so we should be able to help..

Regards,

Jim

If you are interested in seeing a baseball game, the only team worth seeing in Chicago IMHO, are the White Sox and they are in town playing the Det. Tigers.:D

Also while visiting the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum, you should also visit the Planetarium and Buckingham Fountain.
