Chicago Show report (1 Viewer)

How did someone manage to steal a figure ? I thought George's dad was a retired police officer. You know he had to be packing heat !

And where's the body of said toy soldier thief been disposed of?
Any new concrete building construction going on in the Chicago area?

For such a small hobby and so close knit I think its dispicable that someone would steal a figure. How sad and pathetic must you be not to be able to resist taking a £40 quid item. Catch him and toss him off the balcony.

Now, I agree patiently awaiting the TG new releases which, are well overdue as there are some very nice sets being released
Mitch

Shameful and as you say Mitch very very sad. There is a collecting community and all exhibitors at these shows have to trust the punters not to do this, apart from this I hope you had a good show George.

Rob

I've posted about 50 photos so far.... most are of plastic toy soldiers, but I do have some photos from George's room, Britains and a few others.. next week, I'll be posting many more with a lot of metal as well. Link to the photos below.

Also - I've unfortunately heard of several thefts this year... most years I hear of none... very disappointing to say the least/

Thx

Jim

Thanks again Jim,

There's some good shots there. I think I like the TSSD's Wyatt Earp figures and the Barzo Buffaloes the best

For the record,if the thief if caught, he is entitled to free water sking lessions in lake mich! Cement water ski`s and we are trolling for shark! " beauty is skin deep,so let`s skin him and see what he look`s like?

Now that the OTSN has ended, how many pictures will be posted ?
Eyewitness reports will also be accepted and appreciated.
Thanksmuch

Well, on the way to the airport. Great to meet new people and put faces to names.
As befits my nature, I'm heading back with a variety of items:

K & C Glossy
FL ACW
Somerset Indian figures and Black Watch
Figarti Tiger and DAK artillery gun
Ted Toy mounted Buffalo Soldier
Trophy Zulu figures

Not purchased but on the horizon some K & C AK figures

On order: a Figarti Me 110 in desert colors.

BTW, Scarlet Pimpernel had a bunch of Trophy Zulu so email him to see if he has any left.

Good show :)
Brad,

Please share your K&C Glossy pictures when you can...I would love to see what you picked up!

It's a mishmash of about five figures and rather beat up but I will post photos in a couple of days.

Btw, as of last night Norm still had the color guard for $395, if you're interested.

Also - I've unfortunately heard of several thefts this year...

Wish I could say I'm shocked; it's not like it used to be. As soon as the Ebay market took off, all sorts of greedy trash zeroed in on toy soldiers.

Thanks, George, for the thread, and to everyone for your updates and photos. It's nice, for those of us who can't get there, to get a look inside the show.

Barzo also has a Von Steuben's Camp Revolutionary War set.

I may just have to branch into plastic figures for that one!

Prost!
Brad

Any Trophy found at the Show apart from the sets Scarlet Pimpernel (Nicholas) had for sale, I believe I know the source of these and if I am right they are all superb sets:wink2:

Cheers

Martyn:)

That's rather cryptic Martyn. The only other sets I saw (and am not saying there weren't others) were three that Trophy of Texas had.

Hi Brad. Sound and looks like the show was a success for you. What Somerset figures did you get? -- Al

I have neither seen nor heard anything about John Jenkins Designs at the show. Anyone have any news? -- Al
So, nothing in the way of new JJD? Was there any JJD presence at the show? No JJD report at all? -- Al

Hi Brad

Were the three sets Trophy of Texas selling ACW and if so did pick them up:wink2: love to see pictures

I had a feeling there were going to be lots of Trophy on sale for some reason;)

Cheers

Martyn:)

Martyn,

No, they were not. One was the Come and Get it Gun, which I thought was steep. Two others were Sudan I think. If you're referring to the big collection that one of our members here purchased, I believe these three came from that but those were the only items Mike brought with him. Probably a good thing, or I would have been in severe trouble.

Hi Brad

No I was referring to the guy on Ebay who has been selling lots of great Trophy sets on Ebay and lives at Schaumburg, IL about 30 miles from Chicago

Cheers

Martyn,

Someone told me that the seller is actually the widow of a huge Trophy collector. By the way, Schaumberg is where the Show is held.

hi martyn, i picked up a mamaluke ne14, british grenidiers ar14, mercers gun british artillery, a cuirassier trumpeter and a bunch of little legion at almost half price[ brunswick and french artillery, british hussars, mtd rha officer, and some zulu sets}. other than that i didn't see much trophy. a friend of mine walked away with a huge box of zulus and 24th of foot of trophy figures

I just want to add that this was a really different show for me, usually i pick up a bunch of kc and instead this year i left with only one kc piece, the afrika korps motorcycle/side car. I could not believe it. I kept missing my favorite kc dealers. I will also say that instead of kc , i finally got to buy some tedtoy civil war figures and was very happy to do so. Whenever i get to ted's room he is either out of his room or out of civil war figures. Other than that it was great to see everybody at dinner thursday nite, at the figarti lunch friday and at the treefrog dinner friday nite. Hope to everyone next year

Heading back from the show now.....................sorry Al, John was not there, no news to report.

Conte was not there either, maybe the Lt can explain why.

Mitch; the guy actually got TWO of the FL figures, I noticed it later, the first one was obvious, thus the sign, the second took a bit of work to detect.......:(

Such is life.

Those Barszo buffalos left quite a mess behind after the stampede too..................{sm2}

A detailed report to follow tomorrow once I get back to home base and say hello to my girlfriend..............actually, maybe Wednesday regarding the report.........
