Civil War ! (1 Viewer)

Great Dio, LT, are the Zulus mustering for an attack.

Do you know if this guy

is 1/32° or 1/35° ?

My small yet growing collection...

Nice ACW collection.

Check out Front Line Civil War figures, they are very impressive in person.
Photos on FLF web site do them no justice.

Alex and I (Battle Scene Productions) just finished shooting another Civil War diorama from FLF. The pics are being edited and will come out soon.

My favorite soldiers are the Confederates.

Nick,General,
I think these figures are much larger as most of the CW collectors were upset because they didn't match the previous Conte CW.Some collectors said they look like monster Zombies because they are so big and hideous.

Why is an officer carrying the colors? Are all the color guard dead?

Why is an officer carrying the colors? Are all the color guard dead?

There were dozens of occasions where officers picked up the fallen colors to rally a charge-too numerous to list them all but one of the most famous-probably only known by us ACW nerds- is The Boy Colonel-Henry King Burgwyn Jr-commander of the 26th North Carolina during their attack at Willoughby Run Gettysburg July 1st 1863.
During their charge- which eventually drove the 24th Michigan and the 19th Indiana into the shelter of McPherson's Woods- their flag went down a dozen times each time being picked up by one of the Tarheels. Burgwyn dismounted and took the regimental flag from a dying color bearer and carried it himself until he took a mortal wound to the chest-in turn it was then picked up by Lt Colonel John R Lane telling the dying Burgwyn "Sir, it is my turn to take the colors now". Sterling stuff that covered the regiment with glory.

Re the figure by Conte-my advice for what it's worth is avoid buying him or any others in the series-they are dire and hybrid-impossible to match them with any other manufacturer including old Conte. They are the fattest Rebs you would have ever seen through 61-65 (Apart from some chubby re-enactors that take to the field once or twice a year). I blistered Richard Conte with a couple of letters after ordering the whole darn series that were advertised as 1/32 or 54mm. He did at least have the decency to reply and his letter is framed in my workshop where he actually admitted that the scale of these figures "went somewhat awry". He has recently wrote to me again ensuring me that his proposed Zouaves are indeed in line with the old Civil War figures. I reserve my judgement when or if we ever see them.

And the colonel of the 24th Michigan himself picked up his regimental flag on one or two occasions during that same retreat, which is depicted in a Troiani figure set and painting.

Now that was a face-to-face shootout! If memory serves, the 26th NC lost 18 flagbearers as well as some 500+ men on this first day action. -- lancer

Thanks for the sources gents. That figure must be Colonel-Henry King Burgwyn Jr or portrays another heroic incident.

I had a look at the Conte series that has the Officer with the Colors. Very "animated" like Sergeant Rock comics.

Still looking for the dead confederates? What's your top price? I'm going to the Indy show tomorrow, I'll look for them if you still want them.

One of the best sets RC produced-now you've got the makings of a great Gettysburg dio for the office.

That's of course if you've got any room left after you purchase the complete K&C Alamo series:eek::eek::eek:

The First Flagman to the left was broken off at his base - bad paint chips on the legs & shoes, all the other figures had small paint chips on the uniforms from being BANGED AROUND together, the base had broken spots on the green grass clumps which I re-painted and you can even tell if they were broken now !

I should taken a picture for a "BEFORE SHOT" - sorry - next time I will do that.

It is really cool to paint this stuff - you open up a whole new experience when you are able to paint and repair items. :D

I will show you guys my new display with them after I move some stufff around today !
