I was going to post this in Forum News/Announcements but that's probably not the right place.

Lately, I have noticed a lot of people jumping off the handle on what would seem to me to be minor annoyances, even from some I would not have expected. Now, I'm sure we are all guilty of this from time to time but civility seems to be getting frayed at times.

I hope this thread does not wind up being moderated but the brit farmer has some excellent advice in his signature that might help things:

1) Am I adding anything new? Or has the thread reached the circular stage of ‘Everything has been said, now everyone is just having their say’?
2) Don’t post in contentious threads – I do discussion, I don’t do arguing.
3) Remember that I am under no obligation to post – I don’t have to click the ‘Reply’ button, I can just read the thread.

Respectfully submitted,

Brad

Having taken your often stated advice I have had a good look back through a number of threads and, think this forum is more civil now than from what I have been reading.

with respect, I think some of the guys who have been on here a few years must have short memories as to the conduct of some of the chaps on here. I have been quite surprised at some things I have read.

Regardless of rules and changing interpretations things will never change. Its artificial to believe this is some form of gentlemans club where everyone adheres to some non existant code. this is on a micro level a mirror image of society and, conflict etc is as real here as in mainstream society. It always has been and always will be

I think the mods would disagree with you there Mitch, there has been lots of pettiness lately and it is really starting to grate and is growing tiresome.

Maybe you guys should hand out some banishments, then. A banning or two might open some eyes.

Prost!

If I can add a point here, I must say the ignore button is a useful tool. If someone is bugging you so much you feel you are about to explode, hit the button. I recently decided I either had to make some changes or leave as I constantly found myself in arguments. So I hit the button and if you stick to it it does work.

Of course if you don't want to go to that extreme you can just do as I did recently and just say ' whatever you say' and add a :smile2:, it may be laced with sarcasm but its better than getting into another row. I really enjoy this forum and always have done, the rows were spoiling my enjoyment, I took both these steps and I'm loving it again:)

Things could go even smoother if all members would respect the opinion, thoughts and ideas of others without acting authoritive or...higher than thou attitude. Hurling rude comments and arguing over Toy Soldier Collecting just seems ridiculous when you sit back and look at it. I am not going to converse anymore with the constant disagree type whose opinion is not the know all end all. Too many good people here to converse with. ^&cool

Whatever you say Scott.:rolleyes2:

Hey Rob, how does that ignore function you mentioned work again? ^&grin

Scott was born about 200 years too late, he'd have looked great on Lexington Green in his tricorne hat shaking his fist and barking at the British.......:rolleyes2:......right before they fired off a sheet of lead in his direction.........{eek3}

Ok, I'm sorry, back to the discussion; civility on the forum towards others was it?

Well sure Warrior. I like to identify with the "good guys." I like to think that other people want the things to they absolutely believe in to actually be true.

As well as showing civility I think it would be good if some kept any extreme/racist views firmly in their closet at home, this is not the place for them.

You've just been enlightened Buster.

You're welcome!:wink2:

The words may attributed to wrong person, but they couldn't be any truer.

Now you've just been enlighten Scott.:wink2:
