Dumb decision #1 of the season. O'Brien could have walked that in and should have.-- Al
That's what I told my wife at same time. :rolleyes2: Chris

Those shoes were something. I want a pair.:rolleyes2: I haven't yet seen the whole uniform array, so I reserve judgement. I did get somewhat used to the unis as the game went on. I have to rate them ahead of UGa and Oregon, but it's close.{sm3} -- AlThose shoes the MD players were wearing had "snazzy" appeal. LOL. I actually thought the uniforms were not that bad, but maybe Georgia and Oregon lowered the bar this weekend. The black MD uniform is the best of the lot.

UMd performed well enough to beat Miami 32-24 but the Terps have to learn to finish a drive. Got into the red zone something like 6 times and got just one TD along with 4 FG's. It wouldn't have been a close game with 1 or 2 more TD's instead of FG's. A "pick six" inside 2 minutes should have sealed the game for the Terps but the extra point was missed so the Terps had to sweat out one last assault from Miami and did so with another pick on the last down of the game. Whew! -- Al
Thanks for link. Hadn't seen it. I like the various black and red unis mixed with the white. Don't care for the golds at all.:tongue: My wife said the effect was like an opticle illusion, especially when the cameras caught the UMd offensive and defensive teams running on and off the field at the same time. Also reminded us of the crash-test dummy look. ^&grin -- AlThe Post had pictures online. Looks like they have quite a variety! I wonder if the players like this sort of fashion show. {eek3}

Hi Chris. I do remember the name Paul Velano. Might have had him in a lecture class or two. Always had football and basketball players in those large lecture classes (you remember those, the one with 300 or so students). Used to talk with Tom McMillen, on occasion, in history class. -- AlWon't always be able get 14 pts from the D so the offense better learn to "close the deal" in the red zone. Will take the W, even if Miami had 7 starters suspended. Very pleased with O'Brien's performance, with one exception.
Al, Vellano, defensive lineman took the fumble to the endzone. Do you remember when his father played in the 70s? Great player, teamed up with Randy White.
I was so dazzled by the helmets and shoulder pads almost missed the shoes. Chris
Been an Irish fan since the "Game of the Century" in 1966. This el foldo was about as bad as it gets. And what's with the helmet shamrocks? I like the traditional plain gold helmet. -- Al9 turn overs in 2 games with most of those turn overs in the red zone. My Irish are really starting to tick me off![]()

That's it, Brad. Coley O'Brien in for an injured Terry Hanratty and being chased by big Bubba Smith. Still remember all the build-up and hoopla around that game. Rocky Bleier was on that ND team, also. Both he and Hanratty went on to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers and big Bubba carved out a good career with my BALTIMORE Colts. Now I will climb out of the "Wayback Machine".^&grin -- AlYou and I are on the same page: fans since that title in 66 or 67 (the 10-10 game). Where is Ara when you need him? Maybe we need Rudy![]()
I missed the show. But the uniforms sure made me notice. :wink2::rolleyes2:Al, today's ESPN "Pardon the Interuption" had a segment about the new college football uniforms, featuring our own Terps. Point made by Lou Saban about Alabama tradition and what the fans expect from the Tide as pertaining to uniforms. THe commentators said elite schools, such as USC, Alabama, Penn State, etc don't need "special" uniforms. But in Maryland's case it may cause recruits to notice and sign with the school. ^&cool Chris
