Wow - MD is ripping #8 Clemson. Some happy people (Al!) if that holds up. Although I probably just jinxed them.

Clemson just scored, so it's 28-17 UMd. I am a happy alum, right now. I would be a lot happier if this was the 4th quarter, though.:wink2: Clemson has a lot of horses and UMd's defense needs to tighten up or the 2nd half will be a looooong half. -- Al

As I feared, the UMd defense has been unable to slow down the Clemson offense. What was once an 18 point lead for UMd is now a 42-38 deficit. Not over yet, but the UMd offense has to move and keep the Clemson offense off the field. -- Al

The Terps put up a good fight, but they couldn't tackle to save their lives. Almost unreal toward the end with Clemson players sprinting through the D like they were invisible. On to Oregon-ASU which is another good game.

Well, lost the track meet. The defense looked bad, bad, bad. Not impressed with the passes the UMd receivers dropped. Not impressed with Edsall either. Still, it is only his first season at UMd so I will wait to see if he turns out to be the next Bobby Ross.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I was very disappointed in the defensive effort. This is a very young team. Not sure about benching O'Brien. New QB can run which brings a new dimension to the Terps game. Chris

The picks:

LSU 31 Auburn 14. Even without several players LSU wins this one at home.

Wisconsin 38 Mich St. 27. Closer than expected but Wisconsin is the real deal.

Stanford 40 Washington 24. Should be a good game until halftime. Then Luck will make some plays and put UW away.

USC 27 ND 21. Under the lights in South Bend! ND will break out the green jerseys and new helmets. I expect a close one that could go either way. Some combination of Woods, Lee, Farmer and McNeil make enough plays to put SC on top. ND turns the ball over and SC hangs on at the end. Look for a big special teams play out of Woods. No matter how much ESPN tries to downplay it, this is a BIG game. ND has a shot at a BCS bowl with a win. And SC could be 6-1. A loss puts a stake in the heart of the losing team.

Another ugly day for the Terps and the USNA, so far. Terps have looked bad on offense so far. After the show with Clemson last week, I thought the problem was defensive. Now it appears to be both offense and defense. At least O'Brien has driven them to a TD so they only trail 24-10 with 3 minutes left in the third. Navy hasn't looked good in weeks and doesn't show any real signs of pulling out of it. They are staying in the game against East Carolina and are only down 24-21 nearing the end of the third, but I expected more out of them this season. -- Al

Another ugly day for the Terps....

Good God what a massacre, if it was a boxing match they would have stopped it.....oh wait, Maryland just scored with .05 seconds left, then they proceeded to miss the extra point, lead shaved down to 25 points, all they need to do now is recover 3 onside kicks, score three touchdowns and convert three 2 point conversions, then recover another onside kick and kick a field goal, all in .05 seconds.

It looks like the Terps are starting to specialize in high-scoring massacres, the wrong way.:rolleyes2: Doing what we do best. :( -- Al

Cannot believe the way Texas Tech (4-2) man handled #3 Oklahoma's defense...

getting +31 and winning heads up by 3...

Oklahoma was short 2 starting safeties...

but still TT gained over 600 yards...

the game didn't appear as close as the score was...

what a shocker...

Some great games this weekend with #3 Oklahoma going down and #6 Wisconsin losing on a hail mary. And the mighty Trojans taking it to the Irish under the lights! Sweet.

What a shocker is right; losing at home to a 31 point dog.

Beyond annoying as a Sooners fan...........

Too bad baseball is done. Now I'm forced to watch NCAA football, which isn't a bad thing unless one happens to be a UMd or USNA fan. Since I am, it has been a bad season so far and today is going typically bad. ND is running over Navy and the Terps can't do much of anything right against BC, so far. It is still early in the games, so maybe I am being too pessimistic. Nah. -- Al

Navy is looking really awful. Haven't been the same since that heartbreaking loss to Air Force. -- Al

Navy has managed to close the gap to 56-14 with 3 minutes left.:p UMd covered itself in glory again, losing to BC 28-17, which went into the game with a 1-6 record. The Terps have been sliding downhill ever since their opening game win. I wasn't a big Ralph Freidgen fan but I am becoming wistful for the Freidgen days of yore. -- Al

I share your pain! Chris

A bitter 3 OT loss by the Trojans this week against Stanford. I'm not one to complain about officiating but I'll make an exception this week. UGH. They killed us. The PAC 12 has the worst officials in the country. And I'm not talking bad - awful. Basic mistakes like not marking the ball in the right place after a holding call which results in about 15 yard difference in OT. Calling a questionable PF in OT on what would have been a 4th down. Not allowing a time out with one second after incorrectly ruling there was no time on the clock when a player was tackled. The replay confirms there is one second left but they change their story and say you can't call timeout with one second left. A new rule that applies only to the PAC. Apparently the game is over at :01 since there is not enough time to call timeout.

Another "Game O' the Century" this Saturday night. Who's gonna win, Tigers or Tide? Last line I saw was Bama and 4. Hard to pick the #2 over the #1 but Bama has that home field. I pick Bama by a couple. IF it isn't close, it's Bama in a blow out. But what do I know, I root for UMd.:rolleyes2: -- Al

The picks:

-USC 44 Colorado 20. A rare Friday night game for the mighty Trojans. Good things never seem to happen to California teams on the arctic tundra, but the Buffs are awful. PAC refs aside the Trojans roll.

-Arkansas 24 South Carolina 21. This should be an ugly, boring SEC matchup between ranked teams. The Hogs win at home.

-Oklahoma St. 37 Kansas St. 27. OK St. is a fun team to watch. They can score points and move the ball. If they beat OK they might be BCS bound.

-Alabama 20 LSU 17. I wish someone would give this game a little publicity! LOL. Whenever two defensive teams play it always seems like one team lights up the scoreboard and puts 40 points up. The weak link here is the LSU QB. They won't be able to score enough points to win it. The LSU D and special teams keep it close, but they fall short. And the loser should be done. No BCS rematch.
