College Football 2011! (2 Viewers)

UMd turned in what was a decent performance against WVa today, even though the Terps lost 37-31. The Terps started slow and fell behind 24-3 before waking up and coming back. UMd actually was in position to take the lead on a drive inside the last 2 minutes but an interception ended their hopes. Too bad they took so long to play ball or the result would have been different. Bad day for me as USNA lost as well. :( -- Al

Missed the UMD game but saw Navy lose with my UNA grad brother-in-law. Not a good weekend. :redface2: Chris

Nice job today Sooners, that defense aside from the one blown coverage looked great, #1 stays #1.......

George,
I don't disagree, the Sooners came up with it when they needed it and they are #1 for a reason. BUT, you have to give the Noles credit, they blew some offensive opps and came back with a #2 QB and gave you all you could handle, that was a good college fb game with the ebb and flow of the second half. I am happy to finally have fb back in Tallahassee. Overall, great game and the best team won. All in all though, not an easy win and a couple of ifs and an upset it was!

That's what I love about college, this game epitomized it.

Yeah, the noles made it interesting, their #2 looked better than their #1, how many times in football does that happen where a guy comes in cold off the bench and looks like Joe all american. Glad to get out of there with a win.............

That's college! Give the Sooners all the credit, they persevered and the last 8 minutes were ultimate composure and execution, great game.

Hopefully the Noles put that effort into the rest of the season, they should wipe the ACC.

Have to give Oklahoma credit. Most teams would have folded when Florida St tied the score. That place was going crazy. 9 times out of 10 the road team makes a mistake and loses that game. A lot of FB to be played though.

-ND 27 Michigan St. 24. The Irish lose this one and it won't be pretty. A major choke last week and 0-2 start. Law of averages says they get one back at home.

Finally, I was about to check my self into the looney bin. Hopefully ND will take some motivation from this game and will be able to salvage the rest of their season. They aren't that bad of a team its just the turnovers killed them in the 1st 2.

They have an amazing number of yards. Red zone turnovers have been a killer. And their secondary gave up some big plays against Michigan. That was a brutal loss. They should be ok, but not a BCS bowl this year. My Trojans might be in trouble though when they go to South Bend - and under the lights this year!

The secondary for ND is definitely suspect. In particular their CB Gary Gray. I had such High hopes for this guy this year but his coverage is horrible. He has no sense of awareness when the ball is being thrown his way. Yeah he can run with the receiver but he has not shown any ability at all to prevent the catch. They need to find someone better or he needs to get alot better otherwise teams will be throwing his way a lot.

1 major rival MSU falls USC next ^&grin

El Predicto (week four):

West Virginia 27 LSU 24 - This is my long shot upset prediction for the week. WVA can score. At home against a team that may overlook them. Ok - maybe not.

Alabama 31 Arkansas 17 - The Tide did not impress against Penn St. Arkansas always plays them tough, but also usually choke.

Clemson 37 Florida St. 31 - Not enough offense for FSU to win this one on the road.

Oklahoma St. 38 Texas A&M 27. Good game. OK State looks like the real deal.

First quarter isn't even over yet and Maryland evidently wants to quit and leave the field. The score is 21-0 Temple, and there is still 4:38 on the clock. The dorks better wake up. -- Al

UMd down 31-0 at half. I remember UMd being down a similar score against UMiami when Frank Reich was Qb. UMd won that game. Maybe history can repeat.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Didn't wake up, didn't come back. Got masacreed 38-7. Big disappointment but not real surprised. Next. -- Al

That was a real beating. Temple played Penn St. close last week and easily could have won. So don't feel too bad. And the uniforms were still snazzy!

Prediction time:

Alabama 27 Florida 10. A dangerous game for the Tide, but Florida is not there yet.

Wisconsin 38 Nebraska 17. The Badgers will run the ball down their throats and wear Nebraska out. This one should be a blowout.

Auburn 24 South Carolina 21. The Gamecocks have been flirting with disaster and this week it will come home to roost.

USC 34 Arizona 24. Make or break for the Trojans with tougher games coming up.

The Navy-Air Force game should be worth watching. The Clemson-Va Tech game will be a barn burner, too. -- Al

POed at the Navy Qb. Navy looked like poop most of the game and trailed 28-10 with a little over 9 minutes to go in the game. Navy then went on a tear. Scoring twice to make it 28-20 with about 2 minutes left, Navy executed a PERFECT onsides kick and recovered it. They moved down the field and scored a TD with something like 20-30 seconds left to pull within a 2 point conversion which they then converted to tie the game and send it to OT. Navy got the ball first and scored a TD to lead 34-28. It was then that their leader, their OB, screwed up by drawing a unspotsmanlike conduct penalty (ie., he mouthed off after scoring). The resulting 15 yard penalty forced a 25 yard extra point attempt that was, of course, missed. Air Force then scored a TD on it's possession to tie and kicked the conversion to win 35-34.:mad:What a waste. It was a beautiful comeback, ruined by stupidity. -- Al

4-0 with the picks this week. I think that's the first time ever. May head to Vegas.;)

UMd managed to win against Towson but the Terps didn't look real sharp. They are about to go into a real rough stretch of games against 3 ranked opponents, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Florida State. If the Terps don't start playing decent football, they will lose them all and probably by large margins. -- Al

Ok, someone needs to explain to me how OU was ranked #1 when the season started, has won every game and dropped not one, but two spots in the AP top 25?

How do you drop two places without losing one game?

Nah, college football doesn't need a playoff system, sounds like the current system is foolproof.......

Picks for this week:

USC 31 Cal 27. Thursday night games on the road haven't been kind to my Trojans. But tonight is a new start.

OK St. 34 Texas 17. Usually a bad pick to go against TX at home after taking a beating like they did last weekend. I like OK St though. They can put points on the board against anyone.

Oregon 51 ASU 24. ASU is not good enough to pull off the upset on the road. Might be a good game though.

Tennessee 24 LSU 21. At home and due for a big win. Maybe LSU lets down it's guard for once and runs into trouble.
