College Football 2017 (4 Viewers)

I was a PK/P. Kevin Butler's senior year was also my freshman year. He was an awesome talent and it was fun to be able to practice with him everyday. One story about him... we were scrimmaging in Sanford Stadium one day and warming up... I was holding for him kicking 50 yd field goals and he was making them with 20+ yards to spare. He looked at me and said to move over to the other side of the tee (kicking block). I said "what are you going to kick it left footed?". He said yes, and did and was good from 50! (only cleared by a couple yards but still). I saw Kevin last year for the first time in 32 years in Atlanta at a fundraiser. He showed me his Super Bowl ring with the Bears and told some funny Ditka stories.

Anyway, my career did not go like I hoped. I was just a reserve and gave it up after a couple years.

I pulled out some of my old photos recently. Fun to look back on those times. It seems like a lifetime ago now.

Me and Butler... fundraiser Atlanta last year

What a neat thing to have been part of. Ga football is serious business. I remember Butler of course. He could definitely boom it. Tough to be his back up. Seriously limits your opportunity

Hope the Dawgs get it done tonight. The Tide and Saban have won their share. Ga is due!

Both are great programs. I like Bama just because of their big game experience. In college football, though, anything is possible. Not a big fan of Nick Satan who personifies everything awful about college sports. So if GA pulls off the upset, all the better. I can never tire of seeing old Nick chew out his assistant coaches when things are going poorly.

Let's hope for a W! Pull hard. Yes we are due. I think it's our time.

That's pretty sweet Duke, regardless of how it played out for you, that must have been a great time in your life.

I'm a Bama fan, but tonight I'll be pulling for the Dawgs, good luck................you too Rutledge.........................

Hey thanks for that George. Glad to hear you are pulling for the Dawgs. I've had several friends that are not GA fans or any connection/ties to UGA contact me this week just to let me know that they are pulling for Georgia to win. I really appreciate those gestures.

Alabama has "been there done that" with the NC game as everyone knows, but for us this is the first time to play for it in a very long time. I hope we can pull it out.

Awesome. Thanks for that. I hope you aren’t disappointed, Warriorr. At worst let’s hope it’s a fiercely contested game all the way through. I just hope i can manage the stress!

I guarantee you one thing; it will be the most entertaining football game of the weekend...................don't get too stressed, just enjoy the moment (easy for me to say.........................;)....................).

Georgia looking pretty good on defense in a tight defensive battle. Georgia's offense has been handicapped by dropped passes but nothing catastrophic as even the turnover came to naught for Bama. Bama shutout in the first half for only the 3rd time since 2007 and are being outplayed by a good margin. Dawgs in good shape at the half with a 13-0 lead. Only 30 minutes more to the title. -- Al

I am very excited as I am traveling in India this week for work. Was supposed to be on a flight to one of our other offices right now but it was delayed. Just enough to watch the game

Hope all your vaccinations are up to date. Good luck on the trip.

I believe Bama will be looking for another place kicker next season, win or lose this game. Both his misses were awful, not even close. :rolleyes2: -- Al

What a terrific game. Worthy of the championship game. Congrats to both teams. Nothing to be ashamed of here and lots to be proud of. The Bama Qb was the difference. I thought Georgia had the game in OT when they made the FG but Bama made a fantastic recovery. This lived up to the hype. -- Al

Man, that is a tough way to lose. I have to feel for Rutledge, Duke and all Georgia fans.

Obviously, a great win for Alabama. I’m sure your brother is ecstatic Al.

Man that was brutal, tough one for Duke and Rutledge and the whole state of Georgia, what on earth did they do to deserve back to back football nut punches.

I thought Saban was going to commit a homicide on that stooge kicker, two brutal misses, the second was worse than the first.

Imagine a true freshman coming into that game and performing like that; he's a God in Alabama now and forever.

I have reason to believe you are correct.:wink2: -- Al

He had no choice to change the QB. Looks like Hurts had some Tyrod Taylor in him.

I can’t imagine it could be any worse with back to back soul crushers in the Super Bowl and NCG in the same year, basically. Unbelievable. It makes me wonder how foolish it is to tie up so much energy and emotion over something which I have zero control and influence. Grrrrrrrrrr

I can only hope the universe owes us a big payback. Hopefully before I check out. God forbid we’re permanently snake bit. It sure feels like it right now, I must say.
