Just watched one of the more remarkable bowl games I've ever seen. Army beat SDSU 42-35 in the Armed Forces Bowl. It was an old-fashioned running game, a total of 121 offensive plays (only 13 passing plays) and a total of 727 offensive yards (695 yards rushing). The really remarkable thing was the ball-control by Army, which ran 91 plays (87 rushing for 440 yards) compared to SDSU and their 30 total plays. I don't know for sure but I think Army must have had the ball for about 50 minutes. It is Army's 10th win of the season, only the second 10 win season in their history. Congrats Army, a fine job of ground-pounding if ever there was one.:salute:: -- Al
Just found out that ToP was 46 minutes to 14, advantage Army and that Army had as many First Downs as SDSU had total plays, 31.{eek3} -- Al

Al:

Great game, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

Both sides offensive lines are going to be tired tomorrow!

Been an interesting Bowl season so far. Both Army and Navy won their games with heavy ground attacks, proving, at least a college level, that one can still win without an air attack. Conference records have been of some interest as the Big 10 has gone 7-0 to this point, the ACC only 4-5 and the Pac-12 has been exposed, once again, with only a 1-7 record in bowl games. The SEC is only 1-3 at this point but still has 5 games pending tomorrow, including 2 of the national title semi-finals, and probably the championship game itself, barring a pair of upsets. Good chance the title will be an all-SEC affair, but we'll see about that tomorrow. Anyway, it has been a fun bowl week. -- Al

That was a heck of a play by Oklahoma at the end of the half.

Georgia is being kind of embarrassed for a team with title hopes. The Sooners are doing what ever they please offensively. Good game. -- Al

Georgia seems to have gathered itself and has cut the 17 point deficit to 0. The BIG M is with the Dogs right now. That squibb kick at the end of the 1st half was a 3-point error that cost the Sooners. This game has been worth the hype to this point as the 3rd quarter closes out. The Dogs are averaging 15.6 yards per rush. Where is the Sooner defense? -- Al

A 24-0 run started thanks to that moronic squib kick at the end of the first half.

Oklahoma's run defense is hot garbage, Georgia has close to 500 yards of total offensive so far.

If it's Clemson/Georgia in the final, I'm out.

What a great game. That fickle BIG M has once again switched sides and now the Sooners are in the driver's seat, up by 7 with 4+ minutes left. Whoever wins this will have earned it. -- Al

Wanted: Defensive Co-ordinator. Please apply to University of Georgia and Oklahoma. All applicants considered. ASAP. :wink2::rolleyes2:^&grin -- Al

Shame someone had to lose. Congrats to both teams for a terrific game. Dogs get to play for the title but the Sooners should hold their heads high. It was a real shootout. :salute:: -- Al

What a ****ty way to lose a game.

All thanks to the Squib kick.

Just moronic.

scoring a touchdown in overtime? no one down here is compainibh

What?

I'm talking about the squib kick after the Sooners went up 31-14 towards the end of the first half; just drive it into the end zone there, what is the point of that, it led to three cheap points for Georgia to close out the half.

Cheap? Georgia has a very good kicker, without him that long field goal is rarely made.

They still had to play 2 quarters of much improved football just to get back to even!

The Sooners tried to put the hammer on Ga with a sneaky squib kick. If it had worked maybe they go into the locker room with an insurmountable lead. It didn’t work, but the Dawgs were still behind by 2 TDS and Oklahoma got the ball to start the second half.

The Dawgs deserved to win that game, just as the Sooners would if they’d won. A fantastic game of football was played by the schools and enjoyed by the fans.

There is a part of me that thinks the Universe owed the good folks of Ga a football favor after last years SuperBowl. Not predicting Ga takes the title but another bit of football heartache would have been almost unbearable.

Yeah, he's a great kicker, coke bottle glasses and porn mustache included, not to mention he false started on the OT field goal, no call.

Guess the refs figured Georgia has suffered enough football heartache the past year or so.

What are you talking about regarding the squib kick; it's not an onside kick, it's a squib kick, you squib it along the ground to prevent a long run back and it backfired as it hit a player, dead ball.

Do you understand the difference between the two?

Enjoy your win.

It looks like it is going to be UGA vs. 'Bama.
Yep. An all-SEC championship game. Being played where Georgia has a home-field ad, but not sure that's worth much in this game. Looks to be an offense vs defense set-up so I would expect a somewhat lower score than the first semi game tonight but it will be interesting. -- Al

Al:

As I have no rooting interest in either team I am just hoping for a good, competitive game.
