I disagree with you on one point and one point only.
I don't think so that you can correlate number of sets sold, number of ranges dones, number of collectors with the fact that this or this other manufacturer is the number one in the 'toy' soldier world. Quality and quality vs price ratio should be taken into account too. In fact, for the purists (and the ones with deep pockets) only quality will matter. I would buy anytime a BMW 3 series over a Toyota Yaris even though the Yaris is cheaper and it's sales are outselling those of BMW.
So in my book the best historical miniature figures are :
1) St Peterburg high end miniatures or any figures (Pegaso sculpts for example) painted by a pro painter.
2) Aeroart and First Legion (FL sculpts are more accurate than Aeroart ones most often than not)
3) K&C for the figures
3 bis) ex aquo Figarti for the vehicules
4) the rest
That is only my humble opinion of course. Now I would agree that for the mass market, K&C is the leader because for the price, you have a very good product.
Now what I hate in any forums on the internet, is that it's difficult to translate in words something you would like to tell someone if he was in front of you. For me, Mr Neilson sounds a little bit cocky sometimes when writting posts in these forums BUT I don't know the man in person and someone can be cocky if he wishes... Why not, as long as everybody is respecting everybody else here, I think that threads such as these ones are fine and can be sometimes constructive.
Cheers,
Alex

There was a suggestion by an apparent WWII collector that there was a "void" that could be filled by other manufacturers.
Consider the current K&C Despatches which shows the July/August releases as :
5 Civilian sets
FW190 and 3 Luftwaffe figures
2 Landing Craft and 6 Navy figures
1 Spitfire, an Ambulance and 8 RAF figures
1 Panther, a Raupenschelepper an anti tank gun and 5 figure sets
in summary 7 vehicles/boats/planes, an anti tank set and 27 figure sets.
and don't forget the
1 Chinese fisherman and
8 American Revolution figures
When it comes to "voids" no manufacturer is filling as many WWII wishes as K&C. But that is just my opinion (or perhaps if based on sales it might be considered a fact).
I have not added them up but I believe K&C's current WWII offerings would be more than FL, CS, TG and Figarti combined.
Oh and at the same time K&C are filling a few "voids" for those who are interested in Ancient Egypt, Life of Jesus, Medieval, American Revolution, ACW, Napoleonics, Alamo, Real West, World War One, Oriental and Diorama items.
NOTE to K&C : It seems you are not doing enough to satisfy every individual collector ..........................but the good news is you are making more collectors happy across a wider spectrum than any other manufacturer.
Keep up the good work !

Brett
