I don't think people gang up on posters who are critical, have not seen it much on here and, recently the only acrimony was the deluge of posts over the 'refugees' I don't think anyone today has had a 'go' at Vezzolf but, reading some of the replies that Andy puts on here he speaks his mind in response to certain issues raised.

I have not met the man so, do not know what his personality is and whether he is a nice guy or not. I am sure, as he is human, he will have a good side and a bad side as we all do.

Anyway as for cost and hand painting numbers etc are K&C all hand painted?? I wonder, I have repainted a lot of stuff and, say take the AK Panzer II the aeriel recognition flag on the five that I have painted are stickers which, were able to be peeled off. A lot of the tank numerals etc are to look at some form of decal which, when scratched comes away one can see the difference in shine if you tilt it to the light, you can also get plenty of products which matt them down and make them almost unrecognizable. Either that or stencils are used and sprayed.

Thats not critical its just common sense, you can tell when something is hand painted and when its not. I know how hard and how long things like LAH/Das reich/TK arm bands, swastikas and rank badges take to hand paint so, its a quiker option to use aids.

I asked this on another blog yesterday, why does everyone think repaints are costly???
Mitch

Mitch, I have been on this forum almost since it started, back then K & C supporters did predominate. However the forum has become much more inclusive of a wide variety of manufacturers and I now see little evidence of any "victimization".

I have met Andy and the only bad side you are likely to see is some slightly sarcastic posts on this forum. It took me a while to get used to a manufacturer actually telling you like it is, but I prefer that to having smoke blown somewhere.

Btw, I suspect the armsband are tampo/pad printed rather than hand painted.

I agree and being one of the people who will say whats on his mind at the time I often say things which, has my wife cringing at how people may take it but, its the sense of humour I have. I also, have said on here that sometimes cyber humour does not sometimes translate well.

The world, not just the hobby, would be a better place if we all said what we think as often its what really needs to be said.

Agree about the transfers etc many ways to do them and, for the amount of stuff produced it is the only cost effective way to get the results required

Sounds suspiciously like man contact to me!!!

Because they are. If you have one done in a professional way so that it looks like one you have purchased it from a manufacturer, they are not cheap.

Just don't see where the aggro is today rather light hearted banter IMO

Guy's
What a fuss about nothing
When I use K&C figurines and vehicles I always adapt them to the scene I want to create. This means almost 90% sure that I have to repaint them since I always use original war photographs as a reference.
German equipment during 1940 and into 1941 was overall dark grey .During the invasion of Russia many captured vehicles were impressed into German service and the original Russian green shade was usually retained ( except for captured tanks)
In 1942 the dark base grey color returned but in late spring and in the summer mottling and color patterns were being applied. In the southern campaigns in Russia, many vehicles adapted tropical camouflage, identical to the official Africa colors (a lot of vehicles originally destined for Africa were rerouted to Russia)
Towards the end of the war paint was in short supply in the German army. All vehicles left the factory painted in dark yellow. The other two colors, olive green and red brown were issued in the form of concentrated paste. This new system was designed specifically to allow local commanders the widest latitude in coloring their equipment so as to blend with local conditions of terrain. This paste was to be mexed with fuel to make it ready for application. But fuel in Russia was in very short supply.Instead water and waste oil were used to mix the paste colors, then the color was applied with brooms, brushes or mops. A great many vehicles never received any paste colors at all, remaining in overall dark yellow covered sometimes with applications of local mud.
Because of the method of application and the concentrated nature of the paste paints the colors were so varied that standard references were impossible.
As far as different turret numbers are concerned: there are lots of different decal sheets available in the shops;
This I wanted to share with all of you.

There was a suggestion by an apparent WWII collector that there was a "void" that could be filled by other manufacturers.

Consider the current K&C Despatches which shows the July/August releases as :

5 Civilian sets
FW190 and 3 Luftwaffe figures
2 Landing Craft and 6 Navy figures
1 Spitfire, an Ambulance and 8 RAF figures
1 Panther, a Raupenschelepper an anti tank gun and 5 figure sets

in summary 7 vehicles/boats/planes, an anti tank set and 27 figure sets.

and don't forget the
1 Chinese fisherman and
8 American Revolution figures

When it comes to "voids" no manufacturer is filling as many WWII wishes as K&C. But that is just my opinion (or perhaps if based on sales it might be considered a fact).

I have not added them up but I believe K&C's current WWII offerings would be more than FL, CS, TG and Figarti combined.

Oh and at the same time K&C are filling a few "voids" for those who are interested in Ancient Egypt, Life of Jesus, Medieval, American Revolution, ACW, Napoleonics, Alamo, Real West, World War One, Oriental and Diorama items.

NOTE to K&C : It seems you are not doing enough to satisfy every individual collector ..........................but the good news is you are making more collectors happy across a wider spectrum than any other manufacturer.

Keep up the good work !

Regards
Brett
