Been looking at some threads on here with Andy feeling the need to defend K&C.

I have been a TS collector since late 2003 when I bought a Wittman Tiger and some German paras, it was K&C that got me interested in a hobby I had never liked before, with the matt realism. I collected nothing but for a few years then I bought some HB, NMA and HJB as well.

NB. All have gone out of business on WW2 matt stuff.

Ironically perhaps, I have bought little K&C stuff over the past few years. I have some personal reasons behind that, nothing to do with the hobby, but in terms of toy soldiers, I also preferred the Figarti armour, which included a good collection of British stuff, which nobody else was making.

Some debate has gone on over the years about one v another manufacturer, I do not even listen. For example, a few years ago, K&C were given very poor treatment as the HB armour was superior to the K&C, particularly on the tracks. All I said at the time was, I can't wait for Andy's response, which has been to improve even more.

Andy is a former Royal Marine, a naturally combative sort of bloke who is also one of the most creative guys, look at the progress K&C has made. They are still in business. You do not have to like the guy. The question is, do you want to buy the gear at the price? I would like it to be cheaper of course, but have just purchased the new dingo (brilliant piece) and have the humber on order.

I hope we can move forward focussing on the gear and not get into any personal opinion stuff on this thread, I am one of the former frquent users who feel much of the fun has gone from the forum. I am tired of it.

For example of discussion -

K&C UK Sherman, a repaint of the US 105mm Sherman and rare piece of Brit armour at the time - can we politely and constructively discuss the gear?

K&C still do the best figures IMHO - no! - how about, I currently prefer these figues, knowing any competitor will try to raise their game

IMG_4597red1.jpg this is a Figarti piece, I believe that Figarti and TGM, to name but two, are improving all the time

Having not bought much K&C for a bit, I know what I like, what others do is up to them and good luck to you all. I love all of my older collection, I like the Cromwell for example to the point where I bought it.

This posting comes with an 'I am on strong painkillers' warning. If you want an argument, caN WE DO IT THE mONTY pYTHON WAY?

Hi Kevin, good to see you posting again mate. Great pics, got to love that Cromwell and Brit Sherman, its all good. They are still No1 for me, just something about K&C 's style that does it for me. Great to have you back!

Rob, thanks mate, missed the 'philosophy sessions'.

My reasons for lurking are as above, lets not dwell.

Have loved to see the explosion of guys posting dioramas though. It was hard to try to do 30 Corps with 4 blokes, even UK Reb would have struggled at Gettysburg with just 4 blokes on one side! I for one have been pleased to see the Commonwealth troops, please buy them guys so they keep getting made!

Not sure, don't want detail on the internet if that is ok?

NMA lynx, not the most detailed vehicle ever, but came out at a really good price - I wonder if K&C could look at a budget line?

This is the 'old' K&C King Tiger. I recall lots of discussion about the scale, I added a brass HB pintle mg on this photo - these cost around 25 usd, but I would pay something as I think they add a lot.

Good paras, I like the figures, wonder if the weapons could be developed a little more?

I like the HB jagdpanther

Hi Kevin

Good to see you posting again old mate. Re your 30 Corps comment I found it difficult to portray Gettysburg with 400 figures (couldn't get 'em all in the picture ^&grin). But you won't get an argument out of me ^&grin

Assume you can start moving Horrock's guys forward now and I look forward to seeing the new shots.

Hope to catch you in London for another dio chat in June/December?

Bob

Stunning shots -no more than I expect from the WWII dio master but that b&w shot could have come straight out of a 1944 edition of Picture Post-Par excellence!

Kevin-Take it to the bank not just one drink the whole session will be on me but don't tell Rob as I think I already owe him a bottle of Gin ^&grin

Take care old son

Mitch

Thanks Kevin for posting lots of your older pictures here. It sure is a pleasure to see all these different set ups.{sm0}

Great pics, hopefully andy does more commandos, i just got the last set i needed from sara, the beach master set.

Welcome back to the forum. The pics done using natural sunlight really make the scene look realistic. Cheers

As a newcomer to this part of the miniatures hobby, and with limited time, I found the forum to be huge - as I picked my way through all the sections, or I should say as I am slowly picking my way through, I came across the long thread on market garden...it is inspirational; just loved the way the dios flowed on through the narrative; it struck me that this was a good way to frame a cohesive approach to collecting and to getting the most enjoyment from the hobby. I am still reading through the posts on that thread and recognised the Lynx (Great photography by the way - and I must get a book) Though my preferred period has been for a very long time (you don't want to know how long) Napoleonic, I nonetheless appreciate the effort that goes into the creative pursuit of 'getting the best out of what you do' - thank you for the inspiration, and for the presentation of the hobby in all its glory. It is quite seductive to be confronted with the wide array of figures and different periods, and to focus on a single line for the sake of excellence requires some discipline - to actually decide on a project requires some discipline. Thank you again for showing your project(s) and providing that inspiration.

Kevin,
Always a pleasure when you share your excellent photography skills with us! I love how you make the photos pop.
Best regards,
