Conte North West Frontier 1879 - 1900 Series (1 Viewer)

I have given up trying to predict release dates. Yet it seems within the realm of possibility that at least samples of the figures should be able to be seen in Chicago in September at OTSN.Joe

Thats correct Joe, resin masters of these were available at Chicago, and a friend of mine from here in Australia managed to obtain a set of 10 for me :)

They are very good looking figures, but being resin, they will need a bit of hot water treatment to staighten up some bent parts, such as rifles and legs.

I hope to have some painted for exhibition soon, so watch this thread.

By the way, on the base there is wording 2002 ! Has been holding onto them for this long before release???

I believe some of these sculpts were from his plasic sets.
Mark

They don't look like plastic playset figures that I've got from other sets by Conte, these are resin.

By the way, I was looking on the Conte site and see that these troops are based on the attack on the Dargai Heights on the 20th October, 1897. Conte is producing 2 of the VC winners from that engagement.

Piper Findlater, then a junior piper in the Gordon Highlanders, was shot in the feet during an advance against opposing defences at the Battle of the Dargai Heights; unable to walk, and exposed to enemy fire, he continued playing, to encourage the battalion's advance.

The other was Private Lawson who carried Lieutenant K. Dingwall who was wounded and unable to move, out of a heavy fire, and subsequently returned and brought in Private McMillan, being himself wounded in two places. As a side note, I work with his grandson here in Perth, so I'm sure he will want one of these figures featuring his grandfatehr carrying the wounded soldier.

Looking forward to painting my sets and maybe getting some of the painted metal figures too when they arrive 'down under.

I didn't mean that they were plastic but I believe that some of the sculpts were orignally created for his playset that he put out many years ago.And I don't mean all the sculpts came from that set, some are new.I'm not talking about the figures you actually got,but what was designed for the playset.

John the play set Highlander figures were resin an not plastic and the figures you have are not resin masters they are figures from the orginal play sets an do not represent any of the new metal figures from the new NWF series. Mark you are correct they are from the orginal sculpts created for the playsets. Looking forward to seeing your painting of them John....Joe aka The Lt.

Thanks for the information, I know if I ask someone, I'll get an answer to my questions.

Now I'm looking forward to ggiving them a 'lick of paint' :)

By the way, I also was given a John Jenkins Resin figure of one of the new Black Watch FIW :) :)

My set is the first one.... so hope to paint some next month :)

Thanks for showing me the others,

John

If you paint them the way you painted the Jenkins figures they will be a treat to behold.

Anybody heard anything more about this series ?

No reply to the question above for about 34 hours.
Guess, that means that not many news are out there for the NWF releases.
Could be a matter of days and we see them, could be a matter of years also or that we never actually see them

Konrad there hasn't been any news to date an I'm sure it's fourth coming as the production runs are approved which I'm sure in some cases sets may have been and are in process throughout the pipe line. I've a hunch it'll be sometime in the 1st quarter of this year that we'll see the 1st run of them and the balance throught out the year. It's not years from now an there's no doubt you'll see them. It tooks some time for the Zulu War series to hit the shelves an they were well worth the wait an there's no doubt the NWF series will be also.......Joe

Thanks, Joe,
I know how much you enjoy the Zulu War series and how you were waiting for them. First releases of the NWF sets during the first quarter sounds like a good possibility. I am looking forward to see a few figures eye to eye :)
