Hi and Merry Christmas to all! I was enjoying my CS winter Tiger this weekend, and specifically, I really found myself admiring its great detail. So I thought I'd shoot a few close up pics to share showing what has really become a strength of CS, and that is they really are finely detailed and hold up nicely to even under magnified scrutiny. Regarding the figures that came w/ the tank, although I like the action captured in the sculpting, the figures aren't painted as well as CS's current releases, but they are still nicely done, just not up to their (CS's) current standard IMHO. One other thing, even though Brian himself has even been a bit critical of the zimm on this model (stating that he sought to create more of an organic look with the zimm) I thought the end product was more than acceptable. Anyway, here are a few pics to revisit showcasing CS's special attention to detail from their old winter Tiger model:

You gotta love the metal grills...

Lastly, to give you an idea of the size of the CS Tiger, here's a pic of it alongside K & C's newest Tiger (which I also very much enjoy!:)).

Thank for posting the photos Joe , I have the Market Garden one & I'm very happy with it the only downside is the figures look way to big , can't wait till the King tiger show up

I agree Joe i have both CS TIGERS and this is my Favourite but also agree with UKsubs i didn't like the figures much size wise, great pics by the way.

Excellent thread and must say having missed the summer version it looks stunning close up and probably better than the winter version. I must admit that I was also critical on here when the pics of the zimmeritt were shown as it looked to bulky but, its nowhere near as bad when you get it . Again showing pictures don't give the whole story.

The winter figures IMO do require a repaint and when I get time they will be having some work done The K&C figs go very well with the tanks though

I'm going to use my CS Tiger crew with the new CS King tiger :D

The paint job on K&C Tiger look great but for over £200.00 it should have metal engine grill covers

Excellent pictures of an excellent model. I have the Wittmann version and have always been very pleased with it, and while I also think the figures too big, I did like the painting on them. Glad to see the CS version and KC version match up so well, size wise. -- A

uksubs...

Have to say I really like the look of the winter untersturmfuhrer on the King Tiger.
Mitch

He does look nice , problem is I'm getting the four Normandy king tiger's & they all got the same figures & that the reason I'm using the Tiger figures as well

Wow... very nice that you're getting four new King Tiger.... I only plan to get one winter version... I wish I have the cash to get more :(.....

I have the Winter and Arnhem Tigers from CS and both are great! They do match up nicely with the Snow Tiger. Can't wait for the King!:D

Please do share your repaints of the figures, I'm not a big fan of the painting style. The KC crew blows the CS crew away.

I have the winter tiger. The closeups are a bit scary. Going to take a closer look. Some repainting may be in order. I know the detail on the tank is getting done soon maybe sooner.:p

Thanks for the pics Wayne. I should have picked up one of those up when I had a chance. Your pics are excellent, and I think that particular variant is the best one of the CS Tigers. In the natural light in your pics, the tank really POPS. I'm sure glad I grabbed a winter one while I did. Revisiting this one has been a lot of fun.

I agree- I think the zimm is pretty well done. I too like to set up K & C figs w/ the CS Tiger (walking alongside or riding on it)....they perfectly compliment each other, IMO.

Thanks, Lancer - glad you enjoyed the pics. I too was pleased w/ the similar size of the tanks....I think they could easily be used in a display together. The most notable difference is that the K & C snow tiger has a significantly longer barrel, but otherwise is quite similar size-wise.

You're getting four of those bad boys?!?! Talk about a nice column! Now that would be fun! I see why you have the need for some variety in tank crews. Enjoy those mean machines when they arrive!

Joe
