Guys...

Latest repaint. The tunisian tiger was the correct version for this Das Reich Tiger to be done so, thought I would see how it would look. Based on half a dozen pics I was given years ago by a german tanker of Tiki who was a member of the Das Reich. Nicknamed after a girlfriend a few pics of this tank have appeared in some books.

Its the colourway that intrigued me and, the base coat of grey as normal was given a camo pattern of dark yellow. I closed all the hatches apart from the commanders cupola and, removed the sandbag supporting and hiding the attachment for the turret hatch. Water can on the left hand side was removed from below the skirt line!!!

The Das reich tank has a few applications of camo paint over the spring and summer months from sparsh to thick patches so, I went with the latter.

Hope you like.
Mitch

Mitch, that's gorgeous and well done, but do you realize what the Tunisian Tiger is fetching these days? Upwards of $500! But, I guess if you have no plans to sell, it doesn't really matter. Jürgen

Awesome work, love the historical element.

Guys..

Thank you for the comments.

Wayne/Jurgen...
Price of sets has never really interested me but, this was a steal, no box, no figures and two small chips on the tracks. found a few days ago in a charity shop window for £50 which, was not the asking price either. This one is not for sale its something I have wanted to do since the release of the tunisian tiger

Now your talking looking forward to this one.

Wayne..

Its stripped down the figures and radio are out and, has a base coat of grey. Just waiting some decals coming as I have to get the registration plate correct. Looks like one of the Kriegsmarine figures in the boiler suits will get a conversion. I know you like your DAK but, the Horch really looks nice in grey

Your transporter looks good as a Luftwaffe carrier

It's a little known reason as to why German camo switched from grey to 3 colour camo. There was no camo reason - the Americans and Brits used plain olive or olive and black and the Russians used plain green. Apparently the Germans were painting everything grey - so much so that they ran out of grey paint and the director of camo, a Herr Wayne had to switch to base yellow for what was to be a temporary colour. But the stocks of grey paint never recovered and grey wasn't used on German or even Allied vehicles for the rest of they war. ^&grin^&grin
