All,

This is my first post here on the forum but I have admired the incredible work by other forum members for well over a year. I was waiting to complete my diorama before making my forum debut, and Andy's diorama depicting the Pearl Harbor attack was my inspiration for this piece.

After 3 years of research and work, I finally finished my diorama depicting the Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi on December 7, 1941. The Kate torpedo bomber was made by Tom Gunn Miniatures and the remaining pieces are all King & Country.

I scratch built the entire deck and mast. The island and most other parts were 3D printed and I painted and weathered everything you see. I used mostly pigments covered with Dullcoat on the island and using Magic Sculpt, I hand-made each rolled futon. This was an incredibly long and tedious process but I'm thrilled with how everything turned out.

I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.

Mark

I have additional photos but for some reason I cannot get them to upload?

Magnificent! Such great details you built into the dio-most impressive.

Like the fact you were not shy in purchasing multiples of deck crew. Makes me want to launch my aircraft carrier and join with yours to spearhead the invasion {sm4}{sm4}. You have done a marvellous job Mark, real eye candy. Robin.

Excellent work ! A great deal of patience will have been needed I'm sure. Especially like all the detail you've gone into with the signal flags ! :salute:: {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Hi Mark,
Let me add my congratulations to everyone else’s on a really terrific looking display!
Also congrats on adding all the little ‘extras’…that make an already good-looking diorama into a GREAT LOOKING ONE!!!
Well done Mate and all the best,
Andy.

P.S. Now I know where many of those ‘cheering Banzai’ Japanese sailors went to…

Thank you, Andy! You were, and still are, my inspiration and I sincerely appreciate your kind words.

All the best my friend

Mark

Amazing details and the weathering is outstanding. As Andy mentioned the effects of the small details such as the stowed signal flags add so much depth to your display. :salute:: Chris
