An Albatross from a German Staffel prepares to land at an aerodrome located near the Western Front as a strong rain storm is about to move through the area. Josef Wurzelbacher, a meteorologist with the Army Weather Service in France, watches for more planes to return from their mission. His colleague, Karl Heinz, records the planes in his notebook as they land, while Friedrich "Fritz" Bultmann, one of the Staffel's mechanics, looks on.

Very nicely done, Randy. I like it a lot. Looks like it came out of one of those wartime German magazines that I've seen. {bravo}} -- Al

Great picture - well done. Let's hope the Albatross has a save landing and will make it through the war.

Randy, I meant to ask, who makes the Ritter von Schleich Albatros D-V that features in your photo? What scale is it? Thanks. -- Al

Just saw this thread this afternoon Randy . . . . nicely done as always. I must agree with some of the above comments . . . . the B&W format is very effective and I also consider this one of your best photograhed scenes . . .
:smile2: Mike

Thank you all so much for your kind words and compliments. I think these figures are among John's best sculpts and are extremely photogenic.

John is currently working on another unusual WWI subject-vignette that I think you will all love. I am currently researching the soldiers that are part of it for him.

Very thoughtful composition and photography...Well Done ..Alex
