Diggers of the 46th Battalion, 4th Division, Australian Corps start to stem the tide of the German Offensive by retaking a village in the Dernancourt area April 1918...........The Great War.

Noooo those buildings are about to be shot up, all that work down the drain.^&grin, Robin.

Brilliant mate a pleasure to look at,to me this is what i like about our hobby making a dio,taking some pics and sharing it with fellow collectors no matter the quality thanks mate a viewing pleasure.

Very nice diorama, photos and the story of the diorama with the positioning of your troops make it spot on, thanks for posting Wayne...Sammy

great set of pictures of some great dios .
The buildings you have there are very versatile .
But take care with the commercial signs .
"Stella" beer only appeared on the market in 1926 ; ( before the brewery brewed " Bock" pils ) Stella was a special pils produced for Xmas 1926 .It was so successful that afterwards the brewers decided to brew this Xmas pils all the year round. How do I know; because I used to work for the Interbrew company for several years .

Thanks Guy, I have no doubt that you are totally correct mate and my mastery of French is zero but I'm confused because the word 'Stella' doesn't seem to appear in any of the signs I used, of course I may be missing the obvious. ^&confuse

Mate, 'Wayne's Workshop' must be burning the candle at both ends recently to be producing all of that lot!

It's great seeing the village grow and on display with all those wonderful figures!

Thanks for sharing.{sm4}

Wayne missing the obvious? I don't want to live in a world where that could happen!

My mistake Wayne . Your sign says "Hotel Bières Artois" which is correct. The brewery's name was "Artois" in the early 1900's. From sheer force of habit I connect the name Artois immediately to "Stella" I misread the sign . sorry
guy:(

Here is the real thing .....

Members of the 27th Battalion passing through the town when the 2nd Division, hurried south from Flanders, moved into the Dernancourt and Villers-Bretonneux sectors to assist and relieve the troops in line.
They are led by Lieutenant V. A. W. Riggs. In the centre of the first row is 3223 Sergeant Albert James Moynagh.
